Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac shares the surprising cost of an Italian vacation: ‘It’s the most expensive content I’ve ever made!’
Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac has taken to social media to talk about the high cost of a holiday abroad.
The 41-year-old, who was vacationing in Venice, Italy, said he paid a whopping $130 to cruise the canals of the famous tourist destination in one of the city’s gondolas.
Known for his on-air pranks, Sam posted a video of the experience on Instagram.
“Gondola ride in Venice, the most expensive piece of content I’ve ever made,” Sam joked in the short clip’s caption.
In cargo pants, a white T-shirt, matching panama hat and sunglasses, Sam can be seen laughing and smiling in the video as the gondolier steers the boat through the water.

“Venice gondola ride, most expensive piece of content I’ve ever made,” Sam joked in the short clip’s caption
“The face of sheer joy, after paying €80, $130 in Australia, to ride a gondola in Venice… alone,” Sam said in the video.
Meanwhile, Sam’s attempts to speak to the gondolier in Italian failed.
‘He [the gondolier] was clearly intimidated,’ said Sam in his well-known sarcastic style. Later, the “driver” of the gondola can be seen shutting Sam down when the weatherman tries to talk about football.
Sam is also seen singing in Italian – leaving Ricardo, the gondolier, stone-faced.
The Sunrise star can then be seen taking a second gondola ride, this time accompanied by his partner Rebecca and the couple’s four-month-old daughter, Margot.
He explained in the clip: “I got in trouble with Bec because he went solo, so I had to pay €80.”

Sam and family were in Venice to attend the high-profile wedding of Australian snowboarder Scotty James, 28, Bec’s brother.
Scotty tied the knot this weekend with billionaire bride Chloe Stroll, 27, the daughter of F1 Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll.
The Seven celebrity rubbed shoulders with Hollywood superstars Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones at the posh wedding.
Other notable guests include former Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, who is a groomsman, and Sarah Ferguson.
