Beloved Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac is taking an extended break from his role on the show to focus on full-time fatherhood.
The presenter, 42, announced on Monday that he is stepping back from his on-air duties for a month while he takes paternity leave.
Sam’s decision means his stylist partner Rebecca James, 35, can return to work for the first time since giving birth.
Speak with 7LifeSam said he is looking forward to spending quality time with Margot, who recently started walking.
“It’s my turn to pick Margot up, feed her and basically become her personal assistant/valet,” Sam joked.

‘Margot has changed so much in recent months. So it’s super exciting to have some quality time with her.”
In an interview with Monday New idea magazine also praised Sam Sunrise for his support, saying he was “so grateful” for the “opportunity” to take time off for his family.
“I worried that I would be one of those parents who are too busy with work to fully experience all the milestones with my child,” he explained.

In an interview with New Idea magazine on Monday, Sam also praised Sunrise for being so supportive, saying he was “so grateful” for the “opportunity” to take time off with his family.
‘I love my job very much, but I am often away from home. I already notice what I’m missing in Margot’s development,’ Sam admitted.
Sam will be replaced in his absence by Sunrise presenter Katie Brown.
Sam and Rebecca welcomed Margot in September 2022, two years after they started dating.
