Sunrise star Natalie Barr reveals she felt like a ‘failure’ as a mom as she shares heartbreaking parenting confession
Natalie Barr made a heartbreaking admission on Monday when she revealed she felt like a “failure” as a mother.
The host of Sunrise, 55, who shares sons Lachlan, 22, and Hunter, 18, with husband Andrew Thompson, said she felt like a “useless mother” when she couldn’t get her firstborn to sleep as a baby.
The TV presenter confessed to the No filter podcast she became ‘distraught’ about the situation.
“I was so upset because I had a non-sleeping baby and it was, as many moms know, the most helpless feeling,” she told host Mia Freedman.
“My father had just passed away, I was six months pregnant when my father died, so you think, is that why? Am I still grieving?’

Natalie further revealed that a woman in her mother’s group blamed her for going back to work, saying it was the reason her baby wouldn’t sleep.
“There’s all this useless information out there. You take everything, you just feel like a useless mother,” the breakfast show host confessed.
Lachlan’s restlessness got so bad that Natalie and her husband Andrew, who are notoriously private about their children, sought help from a “baby whisperer.”

“I went back to work three months (after giving birth) because at that stage I was really struggling with motherhood and finding it hard to be home with young kids,” she said.
She went on to say that she couldn’t have done it without the support of her husband Andrew.
“I really couldn’t do this without him,” she said.
“He’s so much stronger than me. I may seem strong, but I’m not really. I’ve learned over the years and through my job to be a stronger person.’
