Sunrise star Matt Doran looks less than impressed as he’s given an ’80s perm live on air amid rumours ‘a question mark remains over his future’ at Seven

Matt Doran looked less than impressed when he underwent an ’80s makeover live on Weekend Sunrise on Sunday morning.

The 41-year-old morning show host got a perm during a beauty segment in which he and fellow journalist Liam Tapper got new haircuts.

Matt had to close the show with the horrible haircut.

Co-host Monique Wright revealed that the ’80s perm look is “making an unexpected comeback among men,” so she decided to experiment with her colleague’s hair.

“Of course we wanted to explore how we could create that look without chemicals and what the modern man would look like with such curls,” she said.

“I suggested that Matt and Liam get a makeover.”

The camera then turned to Matt, his short, dark hair in tight curls.

Matt’s locks grew out of his head in a wild shape, which he compared to the character Kramer from the late ’80s sitcom Seinfeld.

“I would describe this as catastrophic,” Matt said, looking expressionless into the camera.

“Would you say that’s devilish?” he said, before adding, “Of all the things you’ve done to me, Mon, this is at the top of my list of grievances. I will have my revenge.”

Matt could be the latest Seven star to get caught up in the network’s bloodbath, which has already led to multiple pay cuts and job losses at the company.

Well-known faces are being laid off and some of the network’s biggest stars are facing pay cuts to keep their jobs, a new report released over the weekend revealed.

Matt has a ‘question mark’ about his future, the Daily telegram reported on sunday, but the decision is still uncertain.

Meanwhile, respected newsreader Mark Ferguson is in danger and ‘this week [is] ‘the start of six weeks of compulsory annual leave’.

The network will reportedly begin looking for replacements for his role once his contract expires.

Names being mentioned to take Mark’s seat include Michael Usher, Angela Cox and Angie Asimus.

David Koch, who is still under contract with Seven after leaving Sunrise, is reportedly unlikely to have his contract extended.

Sonia Kruger is likely to survive, but she will take a significant cut to her $1.3 million salary, a source told the newspaper.

Dr. Chris Brown is also safe, but his salary for his $2 million contract may be reduced.

However, Samantha Armytage is safe and set to renew her contract as presenter of Farmer Wants a Wife.

Sunrise star Mark Baretta has a contract until 2025, but the newspaper claims he is ‘likely to take a pay cut’ to keep his role.

Veteran journalist Ann Sanders may be leaving the network, but the newspaper says she wants to do so on “her own terms.”
