Sunrise reporter Sonia Kruger ‘jumped the fence’ on the Oscars red carpet, where she scored A-list interviews while wearing slippers and received ‘death stares’ from other media outlets

Sonia Kruger found herself on the red carpet for the biggest showbiz event of the year: the Academy Awards.

And the Sunrise reporter confessed to getting dirty looks from the other media outlets trapped in the “pig pen” cordoned off for the A-list guests.

In a video shared on Sunrise’s Instagram account, the show joked that Kruger “jumped the fence” to win the coveted spot.

“You can see everyone has now converged behind what we call on television, I think the technical term for this is pigpen,” Sonia said during her live cross.

“The weird thing is we have exclusive access to be here on the carpet, so we get deathly stares from these people saying, ‘Why is Australian television allowed on the carpet in this way? she added.

Even the Sunrise team seemed surprised by Sonia’s coup during the glittering event.

‘Sonia Kruger has jumped the fence where the rest of the media is forced to stay as she prepares to get ready to join the world’s biggest stars on the champagne carpet at this year’s Academy Awards’ , shared the Sunrise account.

Sonia landed coveted interviews with Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Baz Luhrmann and Miles Teller.

While the TV star looked gorgeous, she did much of her reporting wearing a pair of soft slippers for maximum comfort.
