Sunrise host Natalie Barr was shocked when asked by host Shaun White about his dog Madonna, a year after she died.

Shaun was hosting a segment on what Aussies spend on their pets, when he asked Natalie how her dog was doing.

After the segment, he said, “I am absolutely gobsmacked at how much we spend on these puppies and kitties.” It’s strange.

“Well, I am and I’m not (surprised),” Natalie replied.

“If we do a story about something that happens to a dog or a cat, people care more about that than a human. They just do it. Don’t you think?

Natalie’s co-host, David Kochie, responded: “You do. You are an animal lover.’

A stunned Natalie hesitated before informing him: ‘Madonna had to be put down.’

‘Ow Shaun! Why did you mention that? Kochi said.

Kochie then put her arm around Natalie as Shaun replied, ‘I didn’t know. Very sorry. I don’t know what to say.

‘You did not know? We had to euthanize him and Flash (her cat of hers), we also had to euthanize her last year,” Natalie explained.

Shaun later apologized as Natalie said, “We all know that, it’s just nature, we all know it has to happen.” I have come to accept it.
