Sunrise: Kylie Gillies makes cheeky joke about Kochie’s ‘aubergine’
Sunrise segment descends into chaos as Kylie Gillies makes a cheeky joke about Kochie’s ‘eggplant’
Things got a little awkward during Sunrise’s handover to The Morning Show on Tuesday.
Sunrise co-hosts Natalie Barr and David ‘Kochie’ Koch and news anchor Edwina Bartholomew were discussing the new Babylon movie.
Edwina then mentioned that there was an ‘uproar’ over the impromptu kiss between Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt that made it into the final cut.

‘Is Brad Pitt in it?’ asked a surprised Kochie.
‘Yeah, you wouldn’t know from the billboard; she’s just Margot,’ Edwina replied.
‘They sat next to each other at the Golden Globes last week!’ Natalia added.
Kochie, 66, didn’t seem to have finished this year’s Golden Globes and admitted he missed the action because he was worried.
After the Sunrise team mocked Kochie for missing the Golden Globes because he was busy gardening, the jokes continued on the move to Larry Emdur (left) and Kylie Gillies (right).
“I was growing my tomatoes,” he said nonchalantly.
The discussion then turned awkward when the trio began to speculate what kind of vegetables Kochie grew at home.
“I can hardly believe you’re growing your own vegetables,” Natalie said. It’s funny that he never brought anything, isn’t it?
“My strawberries are pretty small,” Kochie said. ‘And so are the tomatoes, but they are beautiful and juicy.’
“Just don’t show us your eggplant, that’s all I’m asking for,” Kylie teased, as Larry closed his eyes in embarrassment.
Sunrise then moved on to The Morning Show, where hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies continued to gently mock Kochie.
“Just don’t show us your eggplant, that’s all I’m asking for,” Kylie joked.
The studio erupted in laughter as Larry closed his eyes in embarrassment.
‘What do you mean by that?’ Kochi asked.
Kylie didn’t bother to explain the double entendre, just commenting, “I don’t like eggplant, but bring me big tomatoes…”
‘How big do you like your eggplants?’ Kochie replied cheekily.
The group fell silent before Edwina said, ‘I’m all for eggplant, I just don’t want to see Kochie’s!’
Larry slowly backed off screen and said, “I’m going to go out of frame so when this comes up in court, I’m not here!”
