Sunrise host reveals why Ryan Gosling was always destined to play Ken in the Barbie movie as a video from his childhood resurfaces

Ryan Gosling has received backlash for being cast as Ken in the new Barbie movie, with many saying he’s “too old” to play the heartbeat.

But on Tuesday, Channel 7 Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew stepped in to defend the 42-year-old against cruel suggestions that he needed botox for the role.

Bartholomew believes Gosling was made for the part after a video surfaced of him dancing as a 12-year-old.

Edwina began, “If you’ve ever wondered if Ryan Gosling was the best to play Ken in the new Barbie movie… check this out.”

She then presented the video of Gosling making a move on TV.

Describing the footage, Edwina said ‘as you can see he definitely has the moves, Ken energy they say.’

Fellow Sunrise presenter Natalie Barr agreed he was made for the role, calling Ryan “iconic.”

The trailer for the upcoming live-action Barbie movie caused a frenzy on the internet, with some saying unkind things about Ryan.

Some took to social media to taunt the La La Land actor for his resemblance to 65-year-old Ellen DeGeneres, sporting his trademark platinum crop and sporting luxe dress sense.

While another said, ‘Barbie trailer looks INCREDIBLE but MAN Ryan Gosling as Ken looks so OLD!!!! unfortunately the bleached hair doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do.’
