Nat Barr has offered a truck driver a job as a TV reporter after he recounted the time he stopped a tradesman who was about to attack a driver with a metal pole after a multi-vehicle crash.
Brisbane truck driver Stephen Pastor was stopped at traffic lights at the intersection of Hellawell and Beaudesert Road between Acacia Ridge and Sunnybank Hills in the city’s south on Monday morning.
Mr Pastor, who has been a truck driver for the past eight years, explained that what he saw next was “the craziest thing he had ever seen”.
His dashcam footage, which he shared with Dashcam Owners Australia, showed a blue Mazda hatchback driving through the intersection at high speed.
The traffic lights were red for 17 seconds before the blue Mazda veered into traffic and collided with a white Toyota hatchback.
The Toyota hatchback spun 360 degrees before crashing into a red Mazda SUV in the adjacent lane.
All three cars came to a stop in the middle of the intersection as emergency workers rushed to help the driver of the Toyota.
A shocked Mr Pastor can be heard shouting “holy f**” before jumping out of his truck and rushing to the Toyota driver’s aid, while calling emergency services.

Impressed by Mr. Pastor’s eloquent and detailed account of events, Barr offered the truck driver a job as a reporter for Sunrise.
“Okay Stephen, what a shocking event to see. If you need a job as a reporter, you can join Sunrise, okay?” Barr said.
Mr. Pastor replied with a smile, “You have my information, Nat!”
Mr. Pastor told Barr he was surprised no one was killed or seriously injured in the multi-vehicle crash.
‘She [the Toyota driver] “We were very lucky to escape with just minor injuries,” said Mr Pastor.
“If she had been there a few seconds earlier, you can see through the vision right in front of you that she would have been standing there on the driver’s side door a T-bone square and fair. It’s horrible to see.”
However, it was Mr. Pastor’s quick action and heroic actions following the crash that caused a brawl to break out between the abusive driver and an angry tradesman.

Mr. Pastor said he looked over at the red car and saw the craftsman running with a metal pole toward the driver of the blue Mazda, who was running away from the scene of the accident.
“I kind of overstepped the mark,” Mr. Pastor said. “He [tradie] lifted it up to his [blue Mazda driver] head.
‘I just said, “Mate,” grabbed him by the shirt and said, “Mate, it’s not worth it. Let the police sort it out.” He looked up at me, shook his head and said, “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”‘
Mr Pastor described the incident as “confrontational” and said he was glad the interaction between the tradesman and the driver “didn’t go any further”.
Witnesses told police the craftsman grabbed the metal pole and confronted the driver as he crashed his car into a nearby convenience store, moments before the crash.
Barr asked Pastor if the professional was “taking the law into his own hands,” but the truck driver said he didn’t want to speculate or talk about that.
“Look, I don’t want to speculate, but I think he was pretty angry, and understandably so,” Mr. Pastor said.
“When you’ve been hit and someone is running, your natural instinct, for some people, is to give chase. I think that’s the situation he was in.
“I’m glad he didn’t use that metal pole anymore. I’m not going to speak for him, but I can see both sides and where he’s coming from.”

A 26-year-old man from Carseldine has been charged following an alleged road traffic collision in Sunnybank Hills.
Police suspect the driver hit two other cars and ran red lights several times before the collision occurred at the intersection.
“It is alleged that at approximately 9.45am a blue Mazda 3 was travelling south on Beaudesert Road when it failed to operate what was a red traffic light near Hellawell Road,” Queensland Police said.
‘It will be further alleged that the car then struck two other vehicles, a Mazda CX30 and a Toyota Yaris. The driver of the Mazda 3 was taken into custody by police at the scene.’
The man is due to appear in Richlands District Court on August 6, where he is charged with dangerous driving and drink driving.
