Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch to release ‘tell-all memoir’ featuring Samantha Armytage

David “Kochie” Koch is preparing to lift the lid on his 21-year tenure as host of Sunrise in a “warts-and-everything” memoir, the allegation reads.

According to New idea magazine, the 61-year-old plans an explosive tell-all that explores his personal experiences at Channel Seven and uncovers the secrets of the breakfast TV industry.

Kochie has already received a $1 million contract offer as publishers fight to get the rights to his memoir.

“No doubt this will culminate in a fierce bidding war between the country’s top publishers — checkbooks will be open to whatever advance he asks for,” an insider said Monday.

The source described Kochie as a “straight shooter” who is “sure to deliver an explosive read,” especially when it comes to sharing his thoughts on his former Sunrise co-hosts Melissa Doyle, Samantha Armytage, and Natalie Barr.

You can expect flowing chapters when it comes to the decade he shared with Mel Doyle – they’re still very close. The same can be said of Nat Barr,’ they said.

However, Armytage’s chapter may not receive the same critical acclaim, given ongoing rumors of her feud with Kochie and other members of the Sunrise team.

Rumors of the feud made headlines in 2021 after it was revealed that Armytage was not following her then-co-host Kochie and reporter Natalie Barr on Instagram.

Armytage gave a very vague answer when KIIS FM radio host Kyle Sandilands grilled about the topic during a discussion on her own Something To Talk About podcast in March 2021.

The presenter of KIIS FM asked her: ‘I read that you stopped following Kochie and Nat! Did you unfollow these people?’

Through awkward laughter, Armytage replied, “I don’t think I’m undoing…” before stopping and adding, “I don’t think anyone in there is following anyone.”

It comes as Kochie prepares for the next chapter of his career.

Kochie’s departure from Sunrise comes just months after the expiration of the two-year contract he signed with Seven in December, meaning he still has unfinished business at the network.

According to The Australian Media Diarynetwork bosses are eager to get their money’s worth from the former financial expert until his contract expires in 2024.

Kochie will continue to make guest appearances on several Seven shows, including Sunrise,” the publication reported Monday.

His background in financial journalism will come in handy as Seven apparently intends to position Kochie as the face of economic news updates for the network.

It was confirmed that Matt Shirvington would replace Kochie at Sunrise on Monday, following a three-year plan to prepare him for the top job.

Shirvo said he had “mixed feelings” about the new gig as he sat on the couch with Barr and Kochie for the announcement.

‘Just fantastic. Discouraged. So excited. Cheerful. I cannot tell you what honor and privilege this is, especially Kochie. A huge job. A huge job. And an exciting job,” he said.

Both Kochie and Barr said they were delighted with the choice.

Shirvo will organize his first edition of Sunrise next Monday, June 12, together with Natalie.
