American gymnast Suni Lee suffered a disaster on Monday at the Olympic Games in Paris after falling from the balance beam.
Lee, who already won two bronze medals at this summer’s Games, left fans heartbroken when her routine in Paris went horribly wrong.
The 21-year-old gymnast was performing excellently when she made her mistake, shocking the crowd at the Bercy Arena as she fell to the ground.
That means Lee didn’t win a medal in the balance beam final, a disappointment since she finished third in the all-around and uneven bars.
Simone Biles was seen trying to cheer Lee up before attending the event herself.
Biles, who has already won gold three times in Paris, also saw her routine go awry when she fell off the beam, which also cost her a medal.
It is the first time the 27-year-old has failed to reach the podium at this summer’s Olympic Games.
While Biles’ shortcoming was a surprise, fans were most sad for Lee after her stellar performance ended in disaster.
Someone wrote on social media: ‘My heart broke seeing Suni Lee fall now’.
Another wrote: ‘That was supposed to be Suni Lee’s best performance on beam but then she fell. It’s heartbreaking.’
