A pair of 2023 top-four picks were injured on the first night of the Las Vegas Summer League as the Rockets defeated the Blazers at the buzzer.

No. 3 overall pick Scoot Henderson, who finished the game with 15 points, six assists and five rebounds in 21 minutes, suffered a right shoulder injury and did not return, according to the team.

For the Rockets, fourth overall pick, Amen Thompson was also eliminated by what a team source told ESPN was an ankle sprain.

Thompson also looked good on his debut, finishing with 16 points, five assists and four rebounds, and his injury is reportedly not considered serious.

With Henderson and Thompson both out of the game, Jabari Smith Jr. a game-winning three-pointer with just 0.6 seconds left to give Houston a 100–99 win.

The blood-curdling game meant that fans had to wait even longer for the highly anticipated debut of Victor Wembanyama, who was suitable for the Spurs for the first time on Friday.

The Nets also fell after erasing an 18-point Cavaliers lead, with Cleveland keeping their spirits up to eventually grind past Brooklyn 101-97.

Sharife Cooper in the 2021 second round was great for the Cavs with 27 points, while Jalen Wilson and Armoni Brooks each had 17 for the losing team.

For the Timberwolves, Brandon Williams scored 24 as they beat the Pelicans 102-88.
