Succession’s Brian Cox reveals he is mourning the loss of his privacy with his celebrity status: ‘I’ve realised that was what was important to me’
Brian Cox has admitted he regrets the loss of privacy due to his celebrity status and said it is very “important” to him.
The 77-year-old actor is a successful stage and television actor and shot to fame as media titan Logan Roy in the hit series Succession.
Now he’s opened up about how his role in the HBO comedy/drama made him lose his anonymity, which made him realize how much he values his privacy.
Brian said Guardian: ‘I lost my anonymity and I realized that this is what is important to me.
‘I have never experienced anything like this. I mean, you look for success at work, and you get it, and then you have to deal with the consequences.

“I’ve always valued my privacy, but it’s gone.” I was very lucky to have him for so long.
“You know, I’ve been doing this for over 60 years.” And finally it’s over.’
Bryan also told how he turned down other major blockbuster roles, including Game of Thrones and Pirates of the Caribbean.
He revealed that he was offered the role of a king named Robert Baratheon in Game of Thrones, but turned it down because the money wasn’t good enough and the character was killed off early.
It’s not the first time Bryan has spoken about losing his anonymity since playing the billionaire patriarch of the Roy family in The Legacy.
Bryan secured a Golden Globe for his role, but told Barley Magazine that his success came at a price.
Earlier this year he explained: “It’s been a phenomenal journey for me. There is no doubt that it has changed my life in many ways.
“I lost my anonymity, you know, I lost all of that. That’s all gone. I used to be the guy who would say ‘Oh, you were in such and such or you weren’t, or you weren’t’….but now I’m Logan Roy and everyone just wants me to tell them to f*ck * out!’
He discussed how fans usually ask him to ‘fuck off selfies’, saying: ‘I say I can have one for $500.’

Now Brian is gearing up for the release of the upcoming reality series 007: Road to the Millions, where he takes on the role of the Controller.
The adventure game series arrives on Prime Video next month, and Brian was recently seen in his new role in a tense trailer.
Created by the producers behind the James Bond film franchise, the show follows nine pairs of ordinary people as they are set on an epic global adventure through a series of Bond-inspired challenges for the chance to each win a life-changing £1m prize. .
The controller is the only thing standing in the contestant’s way, while Brian plays the role of the on-screen mastermind behind the game.
Brian dictates where the couples go, what they have to do and asks them questions as they move through a series of stunning locations.
Following each pair’s quest, The Controller has hidden 10 questions around the world for each pair of contestants who will then be in with a chance of winning £1 million.
Contestants will be faced with Bond-inspired challenges that push their physical strength and mental reserves to the limit.
Each question is worth an increasing amount of money, and if answered correctly, they deposit cash and move on to the next question. If they get it wrong, their journey is over.
Giving a glimpse into the series, the dramatic trailer features the iconic James Bond theme tune while showing glimpses of the challenging obstacles.
The series is not easy as the contestants are seen climbing cranes, riding trains, blowing up buildings and coming face to face with a terrifying tarantula.

Known for his role as the evil tyrant Logan Roy in HBO’s The Succession, Bryan’s new character appears to have similar characteristics, being described as ‘villainous’, ‘cultured’ and ‘enigmatic’.
Discussing his role, Brian said: “I got to see how ordinary people would deal with a James Bond adventure.
“As they travel the world to some of Bond’s most iconic locations, it becomes increasingly intense and captivating.
“I relished my role as both villain and tormentor, with a license to put hopeful participants in trouble.”
