Successor Nicholas Braun reveals the major TV role for which he was rejected: ‘I was disappointed because I really went for it’

Nicholas Braun revealed on Monday that he was knocked back for a role in the comedy-drama Ugly Betty when he tried it out several years ago.

The Succession star, 34, admitted that in 2009 he auditioned for the part of a jester at a medieval restaurant but failed to impress the panel.

“I rented a jester costume and curled up in jester shoes. I went for it, but didn’t get the part,” he confessed The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

He then said he later watched the episode when it came out and replied with a firm “no” when asked by Jackie O if the show’s actor had done a good job instead.

“I was bummed because I really went for it,” he said.

Kyle then joked that he should visit Ugly Betty star America Ferrara to show her what the show had been missing by not casting him.

“Yes, I often go to her house,” Nicholas joked.

The New York native is currently in Australia to promote the fourth and final season of his hit drama series Succession.

Earlier this month, he responded after his awkward interview on Australia’s The Sunday Project made headlines around the world.

Promoting the final season of his hit series Succession, the actor began a lengthy story about his meeting with Quentin Tarantino towards the end of his five-minute interview — only to be interrupted mid-sentence by the show’s hosts.

Braun pointed out that he had been asked to tell the story, but seconds later he was told he had run out of time.

“I had a guy yell in my ear and say it was another minute and all that stuff, then they asked me to tell the story about Quentin Tarantino,” he shared The Daily Telegraph.

“I must have had about 20 seconds left. I was set on just screaming the end,” the 34-year-old added.

Nicholas said the interview was “weird” and wished he had been given “a few more minutes” to finish his story.
