Succession star Matthew Macfadyen joins the cast of Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman
Matthew Macfadyen, who plays fan favorite Tom Wambsgans on HBO’s hit series Succession, has officially been cast in Deadpool 3, set for a 2024 release.
Variety reported the news on Tuesday, also noting that the third Deadpool movie will be the first since 20th Century Fox was acquired by Disney.
Macfadyen should be able to handle the rigors and roughness of the Deadpool universe after four seasons of battling it out with the Roy family on Succession.
The third installment will also bring back Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and director Shawn Levy assured the outlet that Deadpool will retain his adult humor and R-rating.
‘It’s wonderful to laugh every day. It’s so delicious to listen and write and think about these scenes where people just talk bad. And the violence is in your face and it’s hardcore, and it’s very much a Deadpool movie,” Levy said last year.

And Macfadyen isn’t just a fan favorite on Succession, he’s also Nicholas Braun, aka Cousin Greg’s favourite.
Last week, Braun said Sunday Times Style magazine: ‘God, I love Matthew. I feel extremely close to him: when we finished filming the last season, I cried goodbye.
“It’s still hard to get through a scene with him without laughing.”
Last September, both actors were nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Nicholas was the first to congratulate Matthew when he won it.
Braun said: “Matthew and my hands were on each other’s legs when the nominees were read out.”
‘Yeah, and, like, we were looking at each other, squeezing each other’s legs when our names were read out loud. Then when he won, I was the first person to give him a hug.
And Deadpool fans went crazy too when it was revealed that Hugh Jackman would be back as Wolverine.
Ryan Reynolds, who plays the foul-mouthed superhero Deadpool in the Marvel film series, announced the news in a hilarious teaser video that showed him at home struggling to come up with ideas for the third film.

At the end of the clip, he admits that he has a great idea that fans will love. Hugh then nonchalantly walks into the background scene and heads upstairs.
Marvel fans on social media erupted at the announcement, with one writing, ‘Thanks for coming back,’ while another wrote, ‘Bravo Hugh!’
Hugh first appeared as Wolverine in the 2000 X-Men movie and later played him in various sequels and spin-offs until 2017.
The last time he donned Wolverine’s shoes and claws on Logan was five years ago.

Ryan, 46, who reprises the title role as the foul-mouthed anti-hero, tweeted: ‘New addition to the family! The Deadpool family, for clarity. Which is like a real family, except with less swearing… Welcome back, Emma Corrin!
Ryan previously confirmed that the Deadpool 3 movie’s release date is September 6, 2024.
