‘I kind of like him’: Succession star Brian Cox says he can relate to the character of business tycoon Logan Roy, despite his own disadvantaged upbringing.

He plays billionaire tycoon Logan Roy on the popular HBO show Succession.

And Brian Cox has shared that he relates and sympathizes with his on-screen character more than viewers ever would.

The 76-year-old Scottish actor explained that despite growing up poor as a child, he and Logan actually have more in common than many may assume.

Both hardworking and entrepreneurial, Brian explained that he has sympathy for his character and gave insight into the reason behind his actions.

Speaking in her new cover interview with high life new yorkhe talked more about the role and why it inspired him to create other projects.

While Logan is known for his cutthroat business mindset and no-nonsense attitude, Brian doesn’t see his character as a villain at all.

The actor told the publication: ‘Logan isn’t that bad. I actually do have a lot of sympathy for Logan…he has these horrible entitled children, but he doesn’t have that right himself; he has an empathy that his children don’t.

“He believes that everything he’s done, he’s earned…and he’s not wrong,” she continued.

Growing up poor in Dundee itself before rising to fame through film and television, there are both opposites and parallels between him and Logan as they both made themselves.

And from living a lavish on-screen lifestyle on Succession, Brian takes the opposite path in his new documentary How the Other Half Live.

As Succession talked about how money can tear the rich apart, he shared that Logan inspired him to look the other way.

Revealing that he comes from a working-class family and is the youngest of five children, the project sees Brian exploring other families in this position.

“It was very important to me to do what is a corollary to Logan and what Logan represents, because Logan is all about money. I realized I had to do something,” she shared.

Brian also touched on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry during the interview. criticizing the Duchess of Sussex for joining the family in the expectation that they could ‘isolate’ themselves from the established ‘system’.

TODressing up the ongoing controversies surrounding Megxit, Brian claimed that while people think there is an ‘innocence’ about the Sussexes and believe that Meghan was fully aware that she was joining an institution.

“You can’t break into a system where someone has already been trained to behave in a certain way and then expect them to log out,” he told the outlet. I mean, she knew what she was getting into.

The Emmy Award winner also claimed that Meghan “clearly” had an “ambition” when she married Harry.

“Childhood dreams of marrying Prince Charming and all that we see as a fantasy that could be our life in our dreams,” he argued, calling himself a “Cinderella person.”

But Cox added: “In my opinion, we should not have a monarchy. It is not feasible; it does not make any sense.
