Subway fans are sickened by clip showing how sandwich chain prepares its steak…with one viewer saying they’ll ‘never recover’ from the grim sight

  • Mega sandwich company Subway is once again facing backlash over its ingredients
  • The fast food chain previously came under fire for the content of its tuna

Subway β€” the sometimes beloved, sometimes controversial sandwich megachain β€” is facing heat on TikTok after a video was posted by someone appearing to prepare the steak used to make sandwiches.

The account @howfoodismade posted a video last week showing the method workers use to prepare subway meat for serving.

The clip has now been viewed 8.8 million times and generated thousands of comments, many from shocked and disgusted users.

In the video, captioned “How we make steak on the subway,” an employee cuts open a clear plastic bag of ground meat and dumps its contents into a large container before mixing it together with his hand.

After the mushy-looking meat has been ‘stirred’, the employee divides it by hand into smaller containers, each weighing 2.5 grams.

The comments section of the viral video lit up with shocked comments, some of which even came from former Subway employees.

β€œI worked at Subway and still have nightmares about preparing the teriyaki chicken,” one person said.

β€œI promise you, making the tuna is worse,” another former employee wrote.

β€œThank you for this information, my confrere. Jersey Mikes it is,” another viewer wrote, advocating a change in loyalty to Subway’s direct competitor.

The official Eggo Waffle account also weighed in, saying, “I will never recover from this.”

Others said it’s essentially the fault of anyone who goes to Subway and orders steak for expecting something different than what’s shown in the video.

Several years ago, Subway made headlines when a lawsuit questioned the quality and ingredients of its tuna β€” another divisive menu item.

At the time, the chain set up a website called SubwayTunaFacts.comwhich is still active, to defend its tuna supply chain.

The lawsuit, as the website indicates, was dismissed last July.

The viral TikTok account has so far posted a limited number of videos revealing the behind-the-scenes workings of several massive fast food chains, including McDonalds and Taco Bell.

With the rise of TikTok and other short video posting platforms, came the introduction of these types of behind-the-curtain clips that show (mainly American) consumers what they don’t see about the preparation of their favorite on-the-show videos . go orders.
