Jaimee Belle Kennedy was once dubbed Australia’s ‘future style icon’ and her recent appearance at this year’s Melbourne Cup proves she hasn’t lost her touch.

The 29-year-old creative consultant at jeweler Kennedy Luxury Group wore a stunning mint green bejeweled Tamara Ralph coat dress with diamond fishnets on the race side on Tuesday.

The fashion-forward beauty wore her long locks in a braid down her back, adding a dozen pink, purple and blue bows and flowers before finishing it off with a chic veil scattered in butterflies.

Jaimee first made headlines after her appearance at the 2019 Melbourne Cup Spring Racing Carnival.

This year was her first chance to prove she still has what it takes to impress the masses after taking a break from the spotlight when the Covid pandemic hit.

The Melbourne-based fashionista works regularly with Sydney celebrity hairstylist Sarah Laidlawwho created some of her most iconic looks for the spring racing season.

Vintage Hollywood sirens serve as inspiration for her memorable looks, with stars like Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jean Harlow among Jaimee Belle’s favorite style icons.

“I grew up with dance and I think that’s where my love for fashion started. I have fond memories of wearing costumes and makeup and being able to transform my character. As an adult I can replicate that feeling through fashion,” she told the Daily Mail Australia.

High-end fashion is apparently Jaimee Belle’s medium of choice, if her performances at the Spring Racing Carnival are anything to go by.

On Melbourne Cup Day in 2019, her choice of pastel pink Gucci frock and yellow headpiece placed her at the top of the ‘best dressed’ lists from the moment she arrived at Flemington Racecourse.

“There is always a piece that I absolutely fall in love with, and then I build around that item. It could be a dress, a pair of shoes or even a bag,” she explained.

“My Melbourne Cup outfit was built around my neon Kelly Cut Clutch,” she said, referring to the yellow Hermès handbag that starts from $26,225.

On Oaks Day, she braved the wind in Flemington in a matching baby blue dress and draped blazer from Ralph and Russo — the designer of her ornate corset wedding gown she wore to her wedding to Kennedy Group heir James Kennedy in Florence, Italy in 2018.

Taking cues from a bygone era, she added a touch of old Hollywood sparkle with fine jeweler Graff diamonds and metallic silver stilettos, and had Sarah Laidlaw style her blonde locks in a chic bun on the side of her head.

JAIMEE BELLE KENNEDY’S TOP FASHION TIPS

– Never follow seasonal trends – shop according to your personal style and brand instead.

– Find wardrobe staples that go with everything, such as Jaimee Belle’s favorite piece, a bodysuit from Wolford that she has in a rainbow of colors.

– Always own a crisp white dress – dress it up with wedges all summer long and down with sneakers.

– Style outfits around one important piece – shoes, dress or bag.

“Sarah and I have a great working relationship and a very close friendship,” she said of her longtime collaborator.

“I really trust her and often give her full creative control. Sometimes I don’t even know what she’s doing until she’s done, and I look in the mirror two minutes before I walk out the door and realize I’m rocking a giant beehive today!’

For Jaimee Belle’s appearance at the Brownlow Medal Count in September 2019, Sarah created a particularly dramatic look inspired by Claudia Schiffer’s hair in Chanel’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 1995 fashion show.

When she’s not parading her glamorous looks in the Bird Cage or taking a storm on several red carpets, Jaimee likes to keep her style adaptable and simple.

Her staple for every season is a Wolford bodysuit, which she has in almost every color.

“They are of great quality and last a long time. They’re easy to style with denim for the day, with a blazer for the office, or with a leather skirt for the evening,” she says.

For the summer she always falls back on a crisp linen dress, ‘styled with sneakers for a day at the park with my dogs, or wedges for a relaxed lunch with friends and family.’

Avoiding seasonal trends, Jaimee Belle prefers to focus on pieces that match her personal style and brand, noting, “Just because something is trendy doesn’t mean it will look flattering on everyone.”

When asked about her favorite trends, Jaimee Belle said she doesn’t jump on seasonal trains and prefers to focus on what fits her personal brand.

‘I really like a piece when I see it. Just because something is fashionable doesn’t mean it looks flattering on everyone,” she said.

“We all have different shapes and proportions, so it’s about finding the perfect piece for you as an individual.”
