Brilliant moment when a giant thresher shark jumped out of the sea to stun game spotters hoping to spot dolphins off the coast of Wales.
The shark that jumped out of the water near New Quay, Ceredigion is estimated to be 5 meters long.
The stunning photo was taken by boat guide Joshua Pedley, known locally as The Wildlife Man, who was on a one-hour dolphin watching tour at the time.
Mr. Pedley said, “I couldn’t believe it. I quickly set up my camera and zoomed in on where he jumped from and jumped two more times.’
Writing about a local wildlife organization, he added: ‘On our boat trip we saw a huge shark.

“This is a thresher shark, one of the simplest and most exquisite feats of fish-based engineering there is.
With a tail as long as its body, this beast is not only huge, but absolutely gorgeous. We estimate it was probably between five and six meters long.’
Thresher sharks are active predators that use their tails as weapons to stun their prey and are uncommon sightings in the UK and mostly found in North America and Asia.
The species is currently listed as ‘Vulnerable’ on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
