The author, born in 1954 and raised in Birmingham, England, studied law at the University of Sheffield, but eventually decided to become an author.
At 23, he became the presenting director of Granada Television, producing Brideshead Revisited, The Jewel in the Crown and Prime Suspect.
Despite his success, he lost his job in the mid-1990s due to the company’s downsizing.
He went on to write his first draft of Jack Reacher in just four months and has compiled a portfolio of dozens of books from the infamous series.
The stories focus on the eponymous protagonist who used to be in the US military, but left to live off-grid while investigating a range of dangerous situations.

He described his younger sibling as the ‘best badass writer I’ve read in years.’
‘We share the same DNA, the same background, the same upbringing. He is me, fifteen years ago, full of energy and ideas.’
The latest novel The Secret was released in October and was signed by both Lee and Andrew.
