They were outraged when an interception by the then top-ranked Longhorns against the now No. 2 Bulldogs was initially wiped out by a pass interference penalty.
In protest, Texas fans threw hundreds of bottles onto the field to register their displeasure before head coach Steve Sarkisian could walk up to them and urge them to stop.
Incredibly, their astonishing protests appeared to be successful when the decision was eventually reversed, but Texas was fined $250,000 by the SEC over the incident.
Terrifying footage emerged from the match, showing a spectator being rushed from the crowd during a medical emergency after bottles were thrown from all directions.
Texas superfan and acting legend Matthew McConaughey criticized the football team’s supporters for their actions on Saturday night.
“Longhorn nation and specifically our student section (Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium), MOC McConaughey is coming to you. First of all, you were electric on Saturday night when we hosted Georgia. Bravo,” his statement on social media began.

‘Let’s keep bringing it. Even though our Horns didn’t make the W, you created a measurable home field advantage. But let’s be honest about the bottle bombing field error we had. Not cool. Bogey move.”
“Yes, that call was BS, but we are better than that. Longhorn Nation knows better than anyone how to show up, how to show off and still maintain our class. So in the future, let’s clean up that BS and put it behind us for good. We have to shake hands with that.’
‘Next, let’s make sure the Gators come to town on November 9, let’s make sure they feel the heat, can’t hear the play calls and burn their timeouts – but remember, nothing touches OUR field except that fight in Texas. Until then, root hard and hook ’em in. McConaughey. ”
Georgia-Texas had the largest television audience of any college football game last weekend, with 12.9 million viewers.
