Studio 10 ‘is on its last legs’ after ratings plummet and loss of host

End of the road: Studio 10 ‘is on its last legs,’ sources say, as its runtime is cut and host Sarah Harris leaves for The Project

Channel 10’s morning show Studio 10 is reportedly on its last legs after a serious drop in ratings.

In the last fortnight alone, the show has suffered two significant losses, as it lost its main host, Sarah Harris, and its airtime was cut nearly in half.

Only 30,000 viewers have tuned in to watch the show, which is co-hosted by Harris and Irish-born presenter Tristan MacManus.

According to the aussiethe numbers are so low that “some media pundits were overly surprised” when Studio 10’s runtime was cut from three-and-a-half hours to two hours, now starting at 10 a.m. instead of 8 a.m.

Ratings data shows that the show had a harder time in its first hour with competition from Today Extra and The Morning Show, so it was delayed.

The scheduling change came after Sarah stepped down from her role last month to replace Carrie Bickmore as host of The Project.

Meanwhile, sources say Studio 10 is expected to embrace a different format led by MacManus, Angela Bishop, Narelda Jacobs and Daniel Doody.

Former Studio 10 personalities Jessica Rowe and Denise Drysdale could also return to the fold in a bid to improve ratings.

Studio 10 has become one of the lowest rated daytime shows in Australian television history, falling far behind rival shows on Seven, Nine and ABC.

This isn’t the first time rumors have surfaced of the show’s impending demise, but Channel 10 has said it will continue airing the show in 2023.

However, it remains to be seen how long they can sustain Studio 10 as their viewership continues to decline.

The network bosses also face the difficult financial prospect of having to continue paying Lisa Wilkinson, who recently resigned from The Project but is on a lucrative multi-year contract, until they find another role for her.
