Students walk out after assistant principal tells staff to use ‘straight, white privilege’

Nearly 100 students left Farmington High School in Minnesota on Wednesday after an assistant principal told staff to use their “straight, white privilege” to protect the students.
Administrators discussed opposition to their decision to abolish the traditional titles of queen and king in favor of gender-neutral “homecoming royalty,” when Deputy Director Laura Wagner made the controversial comments.
In an email to her colleagues, Wagner wrote, “I chatted with Tiffany Fearing about homecoming a little bit, and wanted to talk a little bit about what our presence would look like at the parade and coronation when we switch to royalty instead of a king and queen.
“As usual, we have a few keyboard warriors making Tiffany concerned about the well-being of students,” Wagner continued. “I think her concerns are justified and I want to make sure we stand up for her and our students.
“Now would be a good time to use your straight, white privilege to reassure and support students and staff in doing what they think is right for our school community.”
The email was leaked shortly afterwards, much to the dismay of parents and students, who claim Wagner’s comments are just another example of the school district pushing an “awakened agenda.”
Laura Wagner, an assistant principal at Farmington High School in Minnesota, has come under fire for telling staff to use their “straight, white privilege” to protect students from “keyboard warriors”
As one parent, who asked not to be identified, explained to: Fox news: “The Farmington, Minnesota school district preaches inclusiveness and non-discriminatory actions to staff and students.
“As a parent, it is insulting and horrifying to see them feeling behind closed doors that they can use certain discriminatory vocabulary to push an agenda that parents, students and the community are unaware of.”
“This school has been continuously pushing an arbitrary agenda of divisiveness and exclusivity at the students, which came to light last year, and this is just another faction of the school’s silent procedural dissent.”
Wagner is one of more than 160 administrators throughout Minnesota who: signed a promise to decentralize “whiteness” into their curriculum.
But parents and students say the agenda has gone too far, with a student who helped organize the strike on Wednesday complaining about… Alfa News: ‘I go to school to learn, not to get political opinions.’
Scott Duellman, a parent of students at the school, also said he felt that “Wagner acts like you should be ashamed of being straight and white.
“It’s like she’s saying, ‘You should be ashamed of yourself if you’re not in our corner.’
He acknowledged that there was a “terrible history” in America, Alpha News reports, but said we should stop the divisive language and move on.
“We’re past slavery, I wasn’t part of that,” he said. ‘My parents were immigrants.
“I had nothing to do with it. My kids had nothing to do with it.
“Yes, this is America, and we’re white,” he continued. “But we shouldn’t be ashamed of something I have no control over.”
Duellman also added that the homecoming court change was mandated by the school administration, saying, “We live in a republic. The majority is expected to dictate. We let the few dictate.’
And another parent said, ‘How are we supposed to move forward in this society where the administrators think it’s okay to use that kind of language?
“My concern is that they create a bigger gap than a bridge, and that they achieve the opposite of what they are trying to do.”

DailyMail.com has reached out to Wagner and Tiffany Fearing, the teacher she referred to in her email, for comment.
In a statement, the Farmington School District said it is “aware of an email sent to a small number of employees regarding the Farmington High School homecoming parade and coronation, which is now circulating.”
“We can’t say anything about this specifically because it’s a private personnel matter; however, the district is addressing the situation.
“As a public school district, our primary focus has always been to serve our entire community by providing safe learning environments.”
