Student is stabbed to death and another is injured at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School in NC: Suspect is arrested

One student is dead and another is in the hospital after a stabbing at a North Carolina high school that remains closed.
Two ambulances were seen leaving Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School early Monday afternoon, each followed by a police vehicle, after the reported stabbing. Yellow Police tape was also stretched over a doorway.
Police say they have arrested a suspect in connection with the stabbing, but cannot say what led to the fight and fatal incident.
None of the names of the students involved have been released.
A student who was taken to the hospital suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.

According to Raleigh police, a fight broke out involving several students. The incident was described as a ‘serious attack’
The first call came in around 11am, when a school employee called for help and support, saying a student had been stabbed.
Shortly afterwards, another student was found with injuries consistent with a stabbing.
‘He is currently losing consciousness. We’re in the main gym,” you heard a female voice say over the police radio traffic.
A male voice said, “Can you get the administrators to lock down the school?”
According to Raleigh police, a fight broke out involving several students. In a social media post, the incident was described as a “serious attack.”
However, the department added: ‘The scene is safe and this appears to be an isolated incident. Please avoid the area around the school.’
Superintendent Robert Taylor expressed his condolences during a news conference. “As a parent, I can’t imagine getting a call like that,” he said
In a follow-up message, parents were informed that the school would remain under a Code Red lockdown due to the ongoing investigation, but that a ‘controlled’ dismissal would take place at the usual time.
The lockdown was in effect until 2:20 p.m. local time. Carpool students were bused to Walnut Creek Amphitheater to be reunited with their families.
Superintendent Robert Taylor expressed his condolences during a news conference.
“As a parent, I can’t imagine getting a call like that,” he said.
“But most importantly, I pledge my determination; Schools must be a safe haven for students and staff. In the wake of today’s tragedy, we will be reviewing all of our safety processes and protocols.”
