A young man has died after suffering ‘serious injuries’ at a charity boxing match in Nottingham.
He had been taking part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing charity event last Saturday March 25 at the Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Nottingham.
A series of bouts took place from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., but the event was stopped early after the student required emergency medical attention following the first few bouts of his fight.
Paramedics at the event attended to the boxer before he was taken to Queen’s Medical Center where he died.
Police said they are working with the coroner to establish what happened.
The man had been taking part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing charity event on Saturday March 25 at the Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Nottingham.
Detective Inspector Chris Berryman of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Officers attended Harvey Hadden Sports Village on Saturday March 25 with partners including the East Midlands Ambulance Service.
‘A man was seriously injured after a boxing match and was transported to Queen’s Medical Centre.
“Since the incident, his condition deteriorated and he sadly passed away. Our thoughts are with all of his family and friends at this difficult time.
We are keeping an open mind and working with the coroner to establish what has happened.
