- Video posted on TikTok shows a handy way to remove stains from permanent markers
Permanent markers are great…if you want to simply label something one time.
However, they can prove to be a curse if you accidentally find yourself stuck with ink that you can’t get rid of.
Fortunately, getting frustrated by accidentally using a Sharpie can be a worry you no longer have to put up with thanks to this clever hack.
A video posted by TikTok user @fosddddooo1 has shown off a seemingly ingenious way to get rid of the notoriously stubborn highlighter stain.
Instead of trying to rub out the text with glass cleaner, the user successfully removes any trace of the highlighter after using a whiteboard eraser pen to draw over the stain before wiping it clean.

The clip, which has been viewed more than 1.4 million times on the social video platform, has generated mixed reactions, with some users even suggesting their own ways to remove stubborn Sharpie stains.
One user commented: ‘Teachers have known about this for years.’
A second wrote: ‘rubbing alcohol works better’.
A third posted: ‘Hand sanitizer works too!!!’
Another pointed out that WD40 would also work at removing permanent marker stains from a surface, while another TikTok user said deodorant would also work, due to the ethyl alcohol some sprays contain.
If you don’t have any of those things handy in certain situations, a further comment said: ‘Mark over it again with the same marker and then wipe off. It may take a few tries, but it will work.”
Other suggestions that viewers think might work include spray-on sunscreen, hairspray, nail polish remover and even e=lemon juice.
If you have something that is highly acidic or contains some form of alcohol, you should basically be able to remove any trace of previous scribbles.
Another joked about the distinctly strong smell of permanent highlighters, joking: ‘why am I smelling this video lol’.
