Katya will dance with former EastEnders actor Nigel, 50, this year in the hope of lifting the Glitterball trophy.
The pre-recorded show aired shortly after Katya broke down in tears over a DIY SOS star’s emotional tribute to their late father.
The professional dancer and her fellow Strictly stars Nancy Xu, Graziano Di Prima and Luba Mushtuck appeared in a special episode of the BBC show which featured the renovation of a performing arts school.
Host Nick Knowles and his team set out to transform a derelict old boys’ club into a creative home for True Colors – a Wallsend-based performing arts school for children and young adults of all abilities.
During the episode, Katya met aspiring dancer Charis who has Down syndrome, with the 20-year-old explaining that her beloved father had passed away just weeks before filming.
Charis then informed the dancer that she will perform a special contemporary routine in tribute to her late father, who she described as “handsome” and “charismatic.”
She later took the stage where she performed a solo routine to Ben E King’s song Stand By Me, with a slideshow of her family in the background.
During her routine, Charis was joined by other members of the True Colors dance troupe.
As they performed, an emotional message appeared on the screen that read, “I love and miss you forever, Dad.” Love Charis x.”

Sitting in the audience families and presenter Nick, 60, watched Katya struggle with her emotions as tears streamed down her face.
As the Russian beauty wiped her tears with a tissue, Nick was also seen welling up as he noted that there was ‘not a dry eye in the house’.
After the show, Katya said: ‘To see her on stage beautifully in the dress and telling the story in full, I was just so proud.
‘It was a wonderful demonstration of why they deserve this. It’s going to change their lives 100%.’
