They topped the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard after the first show, earning 34 points from the judges.

And Hamza Yassin and his professional dancer Jowita Prystal looked cheerful when they arrived for rehearsals on Tuesday.

The wildlife cameraman, 32, was ready for another day of dancing when Jowita greeted him with a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

The Countryfile star was casually dressed for the day in a bright red hoodie, along with navy blue jeans and brown shoes.

Jowita, who joined the show last year, wore a dark gray sweater with black pants.

The dancer wrapped in a matching jacket as she fashioned her brunette locks into a ponytail.

Strictly Come Dancing 2022 kicked off its first live show in style on Saturday, with all 15 couples taking to the floor to perform their first-ever competitive dance of the series.

And the stars certainly did their best on the dance floor, as both Will Mellor and Hamza topped the leaderboard in the first week with impressive scores of 34 points.

Judge Anton Du Beke certainly let Hamza know what he thought of the dance, exclaiming excitedly, “We have a ballroom dancer in the house!”

Craig Revel Horwood simply remarked, “Who knew, dear!” while Motsi praised his ‘exquisite’ performance and told the wildlife expert: ‘It was brilliant, well done.’

With Shirley Ballas adding, ‘You are such a gentle soul and so easy on the eye. The footwork, the musicianship, it was beautiful.’

Jowita, from Poland, has been a dancer since she was 12 and is best known for winning The Greatest Dancer in 2020 under the mentorship of former Strictly star Oti Mabuse.

After joining Striktly, she said, “This is my biggest dream come true. No words can describe how I feel right now.

“I’m still pinching myself to make sure this is real, but I’m beyond excited to join the Strictly Come Dancing family and can’t wait to put all my heart and soul into that dance floor!”
