Strictly viewers heap praise on Layton Williams as he dances in drag for Grease number amid Movie Week… and fume over judges’ ‘picky’ scoring

Strictly Come Dancing viewers praised Leighton Williams as he danced in drag at Film Week on Saturday, but were angered by the judges’ “picky” scores.

The actor (29) and his professional dance partner Nikita Kuzmin danced the Viennese waltz to the song There Are Thorse Things I Could Do from Grease.

And Leighton dressed in jewels as she wore a hot pink top, inspired by Grease’s Pink Ladies, and a black ballroom skirt.

His lively shirt had ‘Rizzo’ stitched across the front as he got into character as the iconic character from the hit 1978 film.

Meanwhile, Nikita, 25, opted for an all-black outfit and styled her 70s-style locks as she channeled John Travolta’s Danny Zook.

Reacting to Leighton’s costume, viewers took to X – formerly known as Twitter – to praise him for dancing in drag and described the moment as “iconic”.

One wrote: ‘Leighton is cute!!! Icon! In love #Strictly’, while another said: ‘Yes let me #Strictly retire. Leighton is amazing.’

A third tweeted: ‘Leighton was A-MA-ZING’ and a fourth said: ‘We love you Leighton!’

Some viewers also criticized the “picky” judges for not giving Leighton enough points, after the dance number earned him and Nikita only 28 points out of 40.

That comes after Layton topped the scoring charts with 36 points in Week 2 after posting 29 points in Week 1.

Commenting on the results, one said: ‘Layton was DIRTY with those scores.’

Another wrote: ‘Giving Layton and Zara the same score…makes sense Anton,’ while a third added: ‘HOW did Anton just give Layton the same score he gave Angela, someone PLEASE explain that to me.’

Last week, Leighton was the breakout star of Strictly’s second live show as he made history with 36 points.

The pair won an impressive number nine from all the judges in just the second week – an event that has only happened once in Strictly history.

Leighton and Nikita wowed fans as they exuded perfect sync and confidence during their second live performance on the dance floor.

The actor stole the show as judge Motsi Mabuse was in awe of the performance at the time and called it ‘the dance of the night’.
