Strictly star Pete Wicks reveals the terrifying death threats he has been receiving for staying in the dance competition as fans questions how he has managed to escape elimination

Pete Wicks has revealed he faced nasty death threats during his time on Strictly Come Dancing.

The former TOWIE star, 36, opened his Stay relevant podcast on Saturday as he discussed reaching the quarter-finals of the hit BBC dance show.

The reality star was talking about his time on the show with his professional dance partner Jowita Przystal, 30.

The ballroom dancer replaced Pete’s co-host Sam Thompson, 32, who is currently in Australia presenting I’m A Celeb spin-off show, I’m A Celebrity… Unpacked.

During their conversation, Pete told his partner, “You’re the only one I can dance with, I can’t dance without you.”

And while the two were full of praise for each other, the reality star also opened up about the difficulties of appearing on the show.

He told Jowita that he had been the subject of trolling and even death threats, confessing: “There have been some real crackers since then.

‘Someone recently wished me death on the dance floor.

Still, he then spoke about the dark side of his dance show experience, including the trolling.

Jowita replied, “Really?” before Pete went on to describe the hate mail he had received.

He also revealed another comment a troll made that shocked his dance partner.

He said a troll wrote on social media: “Let’s all keep our fingers crossed he gets thrown out and breaks both legs as he slides to the ground.”

The star’s admission comes after fans have been left furious, questioning how Pete has managed to compete for so long.

He told Jowita that “someone wished death on me on the dance floor the other day” over his progress to the quarter-finals on Saturday

He said another troll wrote on social media: “Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that he gets thrown out and breaks both his legs as he slips on the ground.”

Pete’s highest score of the series to date was 36 in week 8, but he remains the lowest scoring contestant on the show, having twice received just 22 points.

And fans have been wondering why Pete and Jowita aren’t in the bottom two yet.

After being consistently saved from dancing by the public vote, it has now been revealed that his clever marketing campaign could be the reason.

Pete’s famous friends have rallied around him, including Sam Thompson, Zara McDermott and Vicky Pattison, urging their followers to vote for him.

A source said The sun: ‘Besides soap stars, Strictly has never seen as effective a campaign as Pete’s.

‘His famous friends include reality TV, music, social media stars and much more, and they all love him.

“Every Sunday night, the reality TV army is looking for votes for Pete and urging their own passionate fanbases to support their partner.”

On Saturday, the soap star sent fans into overdrive after performing a Foxtrot with professional partner Michelle Tsiakkas to Ben E King’s classic Stand By Me.

Despite many viewers raving about the soap star’s dance, Jamie was once again harshly criticized by the judges, leading some to accuse the judges of ‘favouritism’.

Viewers took to X to express their irritation, with many calling for Pete Wicks to be eliminated instead.

They wrote: ‘How, HOW the hell did Pete escape the dance?!?!? Montelle and Jamie didn’t deserve to be there, this isn’t fair

While another said: ‘Absolutely gutted, Jamie went home. Shouldn’t have been in the bottom 2 let alone go!! He had my vote every week. I loved his dancing and working with Michelle. I wanted him in the last Bloody joke #strictly’
