Strictly star Dianne Buswell breaks her silence on partner Chris McCausland missing live tour as she returns to the dance floor without him following their historic win: ‘It’s been really tough’

Dianne Buswell has broken her silence about partner Chris McCausland missing the show’s live tour after it kicked off in Birmingham earlier this week.

The dancer, 35, and comedian, 47, made history after becoming the first blind contestant to win the coveted Glitterball trophy.

In her new YouTube vlog, Dianne admitted that returning to the dance floor without her ex-partner was ‘really tough’ after he had to skip shows due to his massive 250 dates Yonks! stand up tour.

She said, ‘Chris can’t do it [the tour]. It was actually really hard for me to see everyone else with their partners and know that Chris can’t do it. It’s been really tough.”

‘But I’m very happy that I’m still a part of it and I’m very grateful for that. So you know I’m counting my lucky stars there.”

The opening show started at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, with Chris taking to the stage just 12 miles away in Walsall.

Speaking in December, the comedy star confirmed to fans that he would not be hitting the dance floor with Dianne again.

He explained on X: ‘I’m afraid I won’t be able to do the Strictly tour. My own tour was meant to hit the road in September and many dates were moved to January and February to accommodate #Strictly.

“It’s a shame because it was so much fun, but my own dates can’t be rescheduled for a second time.”

Despite missing out on reuniting with his Strictly friends, Chris looked in his element as he enjoyed himself at the Walsall Arena.

Looking sharp in a gray suit and white T-shirt, the comic appeared to be having a great time as he continued the tour, which had previously been moved to September to avoid clashing with his strict main show.

It comes after news that Chris has landed an exciting new job after rising to success and winning the hearts of the nation at the BBC dancing competition last month.

The comedian joins series four of Comedy Central Live – a four-episode stand-up series, which will air weekly on Comedy Central UK in early 2025.

He will appear alongside Judi Love, Amy Matthews, Kane Brown, Ola Labib, Jack Skipper, Amy Gledhill and Joshua Bethania in the fan-favorite show.

The new series will also include an additional 30 digital episodes that will be posted to the network’s social media accounts, where each act will perform their own set.

Last month it was claimed that Chris – who is blind – had a big-money deal waiting for him to stay at the BBC because his humor can ‘appeal to ordinary viewers at home’.

A TV insider said this The sun: ‘What he did by keeping everyone’s eye on ‘Strictly’ was a show that not only was he funny, but proved he had a traditional sense of humor that can connect with ordinary viewers at home.

‘That’s something critics say is missing from many comedy series on the Beeb, and Chris could breathe new life into a genre that was once a mainstay for the company.’

Before adding that Chris’ talents could also be used for more general entertainment shows, bosses also plan to reunite him with professional partner Dianne to recapture their ‘sensational chemistry’.

However, it’s not just comedy shows that Chris could be a part of, but also general entertainment programs – like earlier this year when he presented his chat show on ITV1 called The Chris McCausland Show.

The insider continued, “They are considering ways to reunite him with pro partner Dianne [Buswell] because they had such sensational chemistry together.”

The Liverpool-born star and Dianne lifted the coveted Glitterball Trophy on December 14 after viewers voted for them as winners of the hit show.

Chris not only made history during his Strictly stint as the show’s first ever blind contestant, but also impressed bosses with his cheeky humor, which is said to have helped save the glitzy competition after a year of scandal.

He also released Channel 4’s alternative Christmas message on December 25, calling for an end to discrimination against people with disabilities, and for employers and the government to support their access to jobs.
