‘We can plan it all again’: Former Strictly Come Dancing star reveals he postponed his wedding day after the death of a family member
A former Strictly Come Dancing star has revealed he postponed his wedding day on Instagram on Sunday following the death of a family member.
Retired British athlete Greg Rutherford, 36, revealed the devastating news on social media by sharing three photos of his fiancee.
The former MasterChef contestant has been engaged to partner Susie Verrill, 33, since May 2019, and they have three children together.
He said the happy celebrations should be postponed after the couple lost a close relative.
Greg explained, “Today was supposed to be our anniversary.

‘Due to the loss of someone so close and important we have postponed the big day – As usual the weather in the UK is going to be perfect, we are a little miffed.
“But we can plan it all again and hopefully really put together exactly what we want.
“@susiejverrill I know today will be frustrating but I love you so much and we’ll have an even better wedding when we finally make it.”
His fiancé Susie saw the bright side and commented on the post: “Thank God I started going for longer nails because these hand photos show me a male craftsman had a manicure.”
Susie and Greg have been together since 2012 and got engaged in May 2019.
The couple have three children, a daughter Daphne, two and two sons; eight-year-old Milo and five-year-old Rex.
Greg is an Olympic champion who won gold in the London long jump in 2012 and also competed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.
He remains Britain’s record holder in both indoor and outdoor long jump, winning gold at the 2015 World Championships.
Rutherford retired from long jump in September 2018.
