Strictly Come Dancing in ‘chaos’ as Nick Knowles future on the show is STILL unknown – just one day before the live show

Strictly Come Dancing is thrown into ‘chaos’ as Nick Knowle’s future on the show remains unknown – just one day before the live show.

The DIY SOS star, 62, will find out later today whether he can dance again or instead leave the BBC competition for good after an injury forced him to withdraw from Movie Week.

Nick will join his fellow celebrity contestants for a studio rehearsal before revealing whether he will be dancing on Saturday.

Despite things looking good when Nick revealed he is back training on Wednesday, the contestant has suffered another blow.

Insiders have revealed that Nick will dance the Charleston – a style known for its twisting steps and leg movements – because this is the routine he learned for Movie Week and there is no time to rehearse a new one.

The DIY SOS star, 62, will find out later today whether he can dance again or instead leave the BBC competition for good after an injury forced him to withdraw from Movie Week.

A source told The Mirror: ‘The plan is to rehearse today and Friday and then a final decision will be made around Saturday evening. He will try to perform the routine he has already learned for Movie Week.

“It’s a shame it’s a Charleston because it’s very difficult to do without a lot of knee action, but there’s no alternative. Everyone is rooting for him.”

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Nick Knowles and Strictly Come Dancing for comment.

The Charleston features a long leg action, including the famous snapping knees and legs that fly into the air.

If all goes well and Nick is cleared to dance, he will perform Rain on the Roof from Paddington 2 with his professional partner Luba Mushtuk.

Elsewhere, Chris McCausland is ‘falling apart’ after catching a cold.

The comedian, 46, who is the first blind contestant to take part in the BBC talent show, is battling a nasty winter bug but he is determined not to let it hinder his training with professional dance partner Dianne Buswell.

In a video on Instagram, Chris said: ‘I have a cold. I’m falling apart, but I keep going because I’m a soldier. But we get through the whole dance with the song, all the time, sometimes better than where it was yesterday.”

Dianne added: “Before I even got here [for training] you sent me a message: ‘Oh Di, my throat, my nose, my wrist, my big toe’

Nick reportedly has ‘no alternative’ but to perform the dance that injured him in the first place if he gets the green light to hit the floor on Saturday

The comedian, 46, who is the first blind contestant to take part in the BBC talent show, is battling a nasty winter bug but he is determined not to let it hamper his training with professional dance partner Dianne Buswell.

Chris revealed he was just giving his training partner a warning about his cold, saying: ‘I was being considerate. I just wanted to let you know that I have the flu, my throat is a little sore and my nose is stuffy. Just wanted to let you know in case you want to wear a helmet.”

The pair have been preparing to dance a salsa on ‘Strictly’ this weekend (12-13.10.24) and during an appearance on spin-off show ‘It Takes Two’ this week, Chris revealed they were both covered in bruises because the dance involves a lot of lifts.

He said: ‘It was intense. There have been more lifts than Canary Wharf! There are tricks and lifts and we are both covered in bruises… So is she [Dianne] I had to use makeup to cover her whole legs so it doesn’t look like I beat her up… It was utter.”

It comes just after Nick revealed a major health update regarding his future on Strictly on Wednesday.

He shared an update with fans both on his Instagram account and during an appearance on It Takes Two alongside Luba.

In the Instagram video he told fans: ‘So I’m backstage at It Takes Two and the good news today is that the physios have cleared me to train tomorrow.

‘That is not yet completely clear for Saturday. I have to see how things go tomorrow and then a decision will be made on Friday.

“So of course we’ll keep you updated along the way. But I just wanted to take this moment to thank you for all the well wishes I’ve received and the encouragement from everyone. And I’m hopeful that I’ll be dancing on Saturday.’

When interviewed by Janette Manrara on the BBC dance competition spin-off show It Takes Two, Nick went into detail about what happened on Friday.

He explained: ‘We’d had a great week learning the dance and we were doing the camera tech rehearsals where the cameras could see how the dance works and all that.

“On the very last step of the dance I got to where I was supposed to be too late and jumped into position and one leg stayed still and the rest of me went through it.

“I had a bit of a breakdown and realized it wasn’t in a good position. I actually hurt my knee.”

On the plus side, he added, “Every day gets a little better. Friday was honestly looking pretty bad. Saturday wasn’t so good but I had a scan so we decided to wait until Monday so we could have a look at that.

‘Monday was a bit stronger and today I saw the physios and I’ve had help from all the rehab and physios and doctors and they’ve given me permission to try dancing for training tomorrow.

The duo confirmed that a final decision will be made on Friday, with Luba telling Janette: ‘Tomorrow we will try and take it easy and see what we can do and what we can’t do, and then adjust it’

“If I train tomorrow, it might not necessarily be the end. We’ll see how I do tomorrow and that’s all we can say at this point.”

The duo confirmed that a final decision will be made on Friday, with Luba telling Janette: ‘Tomorrow we will try and take it easy and see what we can do and what we can’t, and then adjust it.

‘We are going to take it step by step and see what is pleasant and what may also feel uncomfortable. We will create it together.’

It comes after fans’ concerns grew when he was not included in this week’s list of songs and dances, which is always announced the Wednesday before the next live show.

However, the show’s Instagram page said: “We’ll update with more news about Nick as soon as we have it.”

According to BBC rules, the pairs are only allowed to miss one week due to injury and must then leave the competition.

Nick also revealed he was ‘gutted’ at missing Strictly last week as he watched Saturday night’s show on crutches.
