Strictly Come Dancing 2023: Angela Scanlon confirmed as sixth star for new series of BBC ballroom dancing competition
Angela Scanlon has been confirmed as the sixth celebrity to join the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing series.
The Irish TV presenter, 39, was announced as the latest name for the series on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Monday morning.
Speaking to guest host Gaby Roslin, Angela admitted she’s both “shocked and excited” to take part in the beloved ballroom show.
Angela admitted that she hasn’t kept the secret of her participation very well, saying: I’ve told a few people, I’ve struggled myself a bit and hoped for a bit of feedback.
“If you tell me a secret and it’s super guarded, you can trust me not to tell, but this, I was ready to burst.” I’ve told 1,700 of my closest friends.’

The One Show host also revealed that she has been in talks to join the show for years but had to postpone her participation after becoming a mother to daughters Ruby, four, and 18-month-old Marnie.
She said, “It’s been on the air for a few years and then I had a little kid and it just felt right this year. I believe in feelings and timing and all those things.
‘I’m not particularly fit, I have no idea how my pelvic floor will react to this dancing. I’ve never danced before, other than drunken jiving at a wedding.”
Gaby Roslin, who guest hosted Zoe’s show for the day, recalled how she first told Angela to compete on Strictly in 2016.
“If only I had practiced then!” she replied jokingly.
