Strictly Come Dancing champion Hamza Yassin has revealed that he didn’t think he would “make it through the first week” and thanked his partner for being his “rock”.
The 32-year-old wildlife videographer and his professional dance partner Jowita Przystal, 32, triumphed in the 20th series of Strictly after battling stiff competition in the finale on Saturday night.
And now, the children’s TV host turned Glitterball Trophy holder has spoken about his excitement after beating Fleur East, Helen Skelton and Molly Rainford.

Hamza said: ‘I am absolutely over the moon, I can’t believe it. He didn’t think he’d make it through the first week, let alone make it to the finals and pick up that Glitterball.
‘This would not have been possible without Jowita, she has been my absolute support throughout this experience and I would not have wanted this journey with anyone else, and for that I am forever grateful.
‘I cannot put into words what this means to us and I am so thankful for everyone who voted, it has made the long hours of training and hard work worth it.
“Everyone deserved to win tonight, the performances were outstanding and it was such a brilliant final that it capped off the most incredible experience.”

Professional dancer Jowita, 28, who made history as the first Strictly Pro to win in her first year, thanked fans for their votes and spoke of her pride in Hamza’s hard work.
“Thank you so much to everyone who voted for us,” Jowita said.

It comes after Hamza was revealed to become the BBC’s next David Attenborough.
Yassin’s popularity with Strictly fans has meant that the broadcaster has initiated plans for him to host his own wildlife documentary series.
Giving It All: For their final dance of the night, Hamza and Jowita performed their partner’s chosen dance from Jerusalema – Master KG Remix featuring Burna Boy and Nomcebo Zikode.
