The incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. on the 100 block of Spalding Drive and left the alleged kidnapper (pictured) dead. Footage from the scene showed officers standing over the unnamed suspect, who was then taken to a hospital where he died

“We realized we had to do something,” the man, who wanted to be identified only as Brian, told KTLA of how he stopped to intervene.

He told KCAL News, “I saw someone crossing the street holding a baby and he appeared to be in a fight with another person.

“The baby had fallen a bit and turned backwards.”

At that point, he said, the attacker turned his attention to him and his own son, who was in the car with him at the time.

“I told my son to get in the car, I rolled down my window, but I forgot my back window was open,” he recalls.

‘My dog was in the back. He came through the back window and grabbed the dog.”

Brian and his son fought back, he said, recalling both of them throwing punches at the visibly distressed suspect as his car drove onto the sidewalk.

After a while, the suspect let go, he recalled, before describing how he then walked to a nearby house to “bang on the windows.”

The man has not been identified and the investigation continues. Police confirmed Sunday that the altercation occurred after the murdered suspect confronted the victim and his child.

A good Samaritan jumped in after driving by and seeing the suspect – and remembering how he attacked the man and his baby. The man, who only wanted to be identified as Brian, recalled how he stopped to intervene and how the suspect attacked his dog

“The people inside were terrified and screaming,” he said, asking that his face not be seen at either station.

Aerial footage showed Brian’s black SUV stopped on the sidewalk outside an apartment complex as the area was cordoned off with police tape.

Several officers were also seen there, with a close-up shot from a resident showing the arrest of the suspect.

Police, meanwhile, added that the suspect was stabbed during the confrontation and referred to him as the “subject” in an initial statement.

“The male subject was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” it added.

Police further revealed that the other ‘subject’ involved was cooperating with their investigation – before issuing another statement on Sunday portraying him as ‘the victim’.

“The investigation revealed that a male suspect confronted the victim and his child while they were walking on the sidewalk,” the statement said.

“During the altercation, the victim stabbed the suspect, causing injuries to both individuals.”

Police added that the man has now been released from hospital after treatment. They have yet to confirm that the incident was a kidnapping as witnesses suggest.

Beverly Hills police have not identified any of the parties involved but confirmed the deceased man was the aggressor

‘He’s in the car. I slap him. I can see his face and he’s just not there,” Brian recalled. “He was clearly having a psychotic episode or something, some kind of drug reaction.” The police investigation continued on Monday

Among them is Sommer Janssen, who told ABC 7 she saw a couple and their young daughter walking down the road when the suspect tried to grab the child, which led to the father fighting him off and the fight escalating from their situation.

Brian added that when police arrived, they used a Taser to subdue the man.

‘He’s in the car. I slap him. I can see his face and he’s just not there,” the resident recalled. “He was clearly having a psychotic episode or something, some kind of drug reaction.”
