Three killed and three injured in multi-vehicle crash

Three people have been killed in a catastrophic collision between two cars and a lorry in northern Victoria.

Victoria Police said the accident occurred at the junction of Murray Valley Hwy and Labuan Rd, in the town of Strathmerton, at around 2:30 p.m.

“Three people, who have yet to be formally identified, died at the scene,” a police spokesman said.

Ambulance Victoria told NCA NewsWire paramedics were called shortly before 2:30 p.m. Thursday, while three other people were taken to hospital.

A woman believed to be in his 20s with upper body pain, a man believed to be in his 20s for observation and a man believed to be his 50s with lower body pain were transferred to Goulburn Valley Health in stable condition.

A spokesman for the Victorian State Emergency Service said volunteers attended at the request of Victoria Police and helped clear the scene of a traffic accident.

The scene was declared “safe” shortly after 3:40 p.m., a spokesman for the Country Fire Authority told NCA NewsWire.

The cause of the collision has yet to be determined and investigators for the major collision investigation are on their way.
