“We were both uncomfortable,” said Sadie, now 20. W Magazine from the scene “But it was also fun because all our friends were there and all these extras and lights and music.”

“It was nerve-wracking at the time, but looking back now I can laugh about it.”

The creators of Stranger Things were previously criticized for ‘forcing’ the teen actress to film the kiss scene.

Twitter reacted fiercely after Sadie revealed during a 2017 behind-the-scenes bonus episode that Ross and Matt Duffer had forced her to kiss even though she had been “stressed out” about it for over a day.

Kiss: The kiss happened in the second season of the show, when Sadie and Caleb, who play Max and Lucas, were 15 and 16 years old, respectively.

“The kiss wasn’t scripted,” Sadie revealed during the post-show clip.

‘I got there, the first day of Snow Ball… One of you, I think it was you Ross, you go, ‘Oh, Sadie, are you ready for the kiss?’ I’m like, ‘What! Not! That’s not in the script.’

“That’s not happening,” he said. “So the whole day I was stressed, I was like ‘Oh my gosh, wait, I’m going to have to…”

The kiss was filmed on the second day of filming for the Snow Ball scenes, and was shot in front of a couple hundred extras, crew members, and parents. Sadie’s mother was also on the film set.

Looking back: “We were both uncomfortable,” Sadie, now 20, told W Magazine of the scene. “But it was also fun because all our friends were there and all these extras and lights and music.”

Ross Duffer blamed Sink’s response for her insistence on the kiss, telling her on Beyond Stranger Things: “You reacted very strongly to this.” She was just kidding and you were so scared that I was like okay I have to make her do it now.

Sadie responded by asking him, ‘Is that why it’s my fault?’

The writer-director replied, “That’s why I say it’s your fault.”

Also, Variety reported that in an interview with the Duffer Brothers before the season 2 premiere, Matt Duffer revealed that that kiss wasn’t scripted either and he dropped on the kids at the last minute.

Back in the day: “It was nerve-wracking at the time, but now I look back and I can laugh about it,” says Sadie (pictured with Caleb in 2018)

“You’d think it’s the end of the world, but I guess it’s a big deal… none of those kisses were scripted, so we gave them that on the day and caused a huge panic.” . But they did,’ she said.

He then told the trade publication: ‘You have to torture them a bit. You know you have to entertain yourself somehow. And we have all these kids that are just fun. I know exactly how to push your buttons at this point.

Sadie later clarified in an interview with TheWrap that she was “never opposed” to the kiss and felt “comfortable” on set.

‘I mean, of course I was nervous because it’s a first kiss, right?’ sink said. ‘But I never opposed [it] or felt pushed to nothing.

“I always felt comfortable and the Duffer Brothers do the best job,” she added. And always create a comfortable space. And if I felt uncomfortable with something, I wouldn’t have done it.
