Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s most successful series of all time, but fans are outraged after learning that the final season may not arrive on the streaming platform until 2025.
The uproar came after a popular Stranger Things insider account on Twitter called Stranger News shared a photo of a fan art poster created by artist Axel Almiron, stating in their tweet, “The end is coming. 2025.’
Almiron’s poster, featuring an image of central character Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp), seemingly caused a wave of excitement among the show’s devoted followers, but that joy quickly turned to horror when they saw the date shown in the accompanying tweet is listed.
While Netflix has yet to announce an official premiere date for season five of Stranger Things, many fans responded to the tweet with outrage, admitting that they assumed they would get their final cut of the show in late 2024.

Fans were absolutely devastated to learn that Stranger Things’ premiere date wouldn’t happen for another two years.
‘2025?? That’s a joke,” one fan angrily tweeted.
‘Are you serious?!!!!! No way, I can’t wait,” another fumed, while a third wrote: “2025 is crazy, I’ll be dead.”
Many viewers have been furious since it was last speculated that season five would be dropping next year.
‘I thought it was 2024!!!!!!!’ one exclaimed.
‘Wait what? 2025? Wasn’t it 2024 before, it must be a very long season this time, like 40 episodes,” another wondered.
“Brooooo, you said 2024 a few months ago (that’s been a long time coming) and now you’re saying 2025, that’s too much,” grumbled a third. “In five months you’ll tweet and say it’s coming in 2026.”
Some fans joked that the Hawkins kids will all be adults by the time the season finally airs.

“Omg those kids will be 30 by then,” one person joked.
‘Of course the end will come. The entire cast will die of old age by the time you release this,” teased another.
Others, however, complained about the season’s continued pattern of delayed release dates.
‘NOT 2025 WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL YEARS FOR EACH SEASON??? ridiculous,” someone commented.
“Season four will be released in mid 2022,” another noted. ‘How it takes over two years for the f**ka series to release a new session when it’s a hit.’
But fans on the other side of the coin were quick to point out that the Writers Guild of America strike – which began on May 2 – is only just nearing its end and a tentative deal has been reached.
The show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, tweeted at the time to inform fans that filming of the show would be paused until the strike was resolved.
‘Duffers here. The writing doesn’t stop when filming begins,” they wrote on May 6.

But fans on the other side of the coin were quick to point out that the Writers Guild of America strike – which began on May 2 – is only just nearing its end and a tentative deal has been reached.
“While we are excited to start production with our incredible cast and crew, this is not possible during this strike. We hope that a fair deal will be reached soon so that we can all get back to work. Until then – over and done.’
Shortly after that announcement, SAG-AFTRA members announced they were also going on strike, leaving many of the show’s stars unable to film. That strike has not yet been resolved.
That’s why filming – which the creative team claims will take a year – still hasn’t started, and then there’s editing, which is also a time-consuming process.
“Y’all need to understand that the filming, strike and editing will take time,” one user tweeted.
“They’re writing strike problems. We can’t do anything about it. They can’t help it. I will anticipate the wait and be ready when the time comes!’ another noted optimistically.
‘All of you saying “omg 2025!!!” You all need to wake up. There has been a strike for writers and actors and no one has watched this show yet,” wrote a third.
They added: ‘Lucky if we get it in 2025. To be honest, we’re looking at maybe early 2026. Filming will take a year and they still have to write the episodes!’
