Sting announces NEW tour! Music icon will play string of concerts in North America during Sting 3.0 Tour – after wowing with Billy Joel gigs

Sting will embark on a series of shows in North America this year, titled the Sting 3.0 Tour.

The 72-year-old music icon will be accompanied during his twenty shows by guitarist and frequent collaborator Dominic Miller, as well as drummer Chris Maas.

The former member of The Police – who recently attended the premiere of Dune: Part Two – is currently set to kick off his run of shows with two concerts at the Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan, in September.

Sting, born Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, will remain on the road until November, when he will conclude his tour with a pair of shows at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on November 12 and 13.

The star will also perform in Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, Brooklyn, Port Chester, Washington, DC, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago and San Francisco.

Members of the artist’s fan club were given access to pre-sale tickets on Monday, and both American Express and Citi card members were allowed to purchase passes today.

The general public can buy tickets for the performances of the Fields Of Gold singer this Friday.

According to a release, the Roxanne hitmaker’s tour represents “a new dynamic era showcasing selections from his extensive catalog through the urgent lens of a tight three-piece combo.”

The Sting 3.0 Tour is separate from a series of ‘special shows’, which will see the artist perform several concerts in the United States, Mexico and the Dominican Republic in April.

Sting and his band will also perform at various US and European locations from May to August.

The artist recently supported Billy Joel on his ongoing North American tour, and he joined the Piano Man singer for a performance in Tampa, Florida, last February.

The bassist will also play a pair of shows with Joel in San Diego and St. Louis, which will take place in April and September respectively.

Sting talked about touring during an interview with Music week and stated that he went into every show with the intention of performing his material with the same energy level as he did when writing his older songs.

“Every night I try to breathe life into a song that could have been written 40 years ago with the same curiosity, the same passion, the same enthusiasm, and that’s my performance,” he said.

The artist also spoke about The Police’s highly lucrative 2007/2008 reunion tour, stating that he was happy to reunite with his old bandmates.

“When the police reunited, it had gone on long enough and it was the right time to do it. And I take credit for that because that was my decision,” he said.

Sting then added that although the group would not be reunited in the future, they were happy that they had been able to appear in front of their fans for one final run of shows.

“It would just be pointless to do it again, and that won’t happen.” But we did it, and everyone was happy that Mom and Dad got back together and had one last fling,” he said.
