Beef centers on two random strangers who are involved in a road rage incident that begins to consume their lives.
Yeun plays Danny Cho, a failed contractor with a chip on his shoulder, with Wong playing Amy Lau, a self-made businesswoman with a colorful life.
“The escalating stakes of their feud unravel their lives and relationships in this darkly comedic and deeply moving series,” the series description reads.
Creator and showrunner Lee Sung Jin also recently offered his thoughts on the very succinct title that has nothing to do with food products.
“There are surprisingly few catchy words or idioms selling the fight aspect of the show, and the few that do exist have been done before,” he said.

The eight-episode series premiered at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas earlier this month, where Wong revealed the toll the series took on both her and Yeun.
‘Steven and I broke out in hives after the show. Mine was on my face. He had the whole body because he is that weak,” he said.
She added: ‘It definitely took its toll on us, but we didn’t even realize it until after the show ended. I mean, I won’t even talk about what happened to your elbow.
Wong also admitted: ‘I don’t think we knew that was going to happen. If we had known what we were going to put our bodies and minds through, we might not have said yes, but we’re so glad we did.’
Creator Lee Sung Jin also revealed that the show was inspired by an actual bout of road rage that he went through.
It was with a white SUV. A BMW, not a Mercedes. He honked at me, cursed at me and left,” she admitted.
And for some reason, that day, I said, “I’ll follow you.” It didn’t end the way it did on the show, which is why I’m here, I can talk to you today, but it definitely made me think about how we live in such subjective realities where we project ourselves onto people we don’t know. ,’ he said.
