Steven Gerrard has paid a sweet tribute to his wife Alex, who celebrated her 40th birthday on Thursday.
The former Liverpool star, 41, posted a slew of beloved snaps on Instagram with Alex, whom he married in 2007.
He also shared a photo of their beautiful kitchen decorated with gold balloons and an LED 40 sign.

In the first snap, Alex looked glamorous as she donned a black cap with her age on the front and some classy shades.
In another, the couple appeared in good spirits as they socialized and enjoyed a sumptuous meal.
Alex looked every inch the doting mother alongside her children Lilly (18), Lexie 16, Lourdes 10 and five-year-old son Leo who she shares with the Aston Villa manager.

It comes after Steve recently shared a sweet tribute to daughter Lilly as she celebrated her 18th birthday.
The former Liverpool star took to Instagram to share a photo of his beautiful daughter at a celebratory dinner, after he decorated their home with huge 18 balloons.
Steven captioned his post: ‘Happy 18th birthday Lilly, I hope your day is as special as you are. We love you so much, please never change.’

In recent months, Steven has moved from Scottish club Rangers to Aston Villa in hopes of saving the Premier League team from relegation.
After opening with four wins in six under Gerrard, Villa struggled with consistency, with Steven recently saying he knows the team needs to look over their shoulder.
“It’s very easy in this part of the competition to think you’re okay,” Gerrard said. “It’s very easy to take your eyes off the ball and become complacent, like we did last week.
“We have to be extremely careful. We’re in twelfth, not a position where we scorn an opponent and think we can just show up.”
