The longtime partner of a mother of two has been charged with murder after she was found beaten and stabbed in her home.
Steven Dean, 37, was charged with one murder on Friday following the death of his partner of 15 years, Emmerick Lasakar.
WA police rushed to a house on Knutsford Avenue in Kewdale, south-east Perth, after Ms Lasakar’s young daughters called triple zero on Monday.
Officers and St John WA staff provided first aid to the 35-year-old before she was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where she later died.
Dean remains under police guard in hospital after reportedly trying to flee.
He allegedly crashed his gray car into a tree before entering a nearby house where he was arrested by police.
The 37-year-old has been charged with murder and a number of other crimes related to other incidents, including attempted aggravated armed robbery, aggravated burglary and felony assault, and reckless driving.

Neighbors previously revealed how a young girl’s screams entered the home.
A neighbor told 9News that she was made aware of the ordeal when she heard screams in the neighborhood.
“It was her mother – she was screaming ‘mamma mamma mamma, no no no, choose me, kill me,” the neighbor said.
“Then screaming again, like a really bad, horrible screaming, that was the worst.”
Ms Lasakar, 35, was found with serious injuries at her home in Kewdale, Perth, on Monday.

WA Police Commissioner Colonel Blanch said earlier this week that the scene was confronting “not just for officers but for the kids.”
“It’s a tragically sad day for the family,” he told ABC Perth radio.
Dean has been denied bail and will appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday via a hospital hearing.
