Steven Crowder can be seen in disturbing Ring footage verbally assaulting his then heavily pregnant wife

Disturbing new video footage shows YouTube star Steven Crowder berating his heavily pregnant wife for “not fulfilling her duties as a wife.”

The video, obtained by journalist Yashar Ali and posted on his Substackshows Steven Crowder demanding his wife Hilary, then nearly eight months pregnant with twins, do something involving the couple’s dogs, such as “put on gloves.”

He also tells her to “fulfill feminine duties” as he asks her not to take their only car to run errands as it would keep him home and not be able to go to the gym.

And when Hilary tells Steven “your abuse is sick,” he snaps back, “Watch out. Damn look at it.’

The couple is in the middle of a public divorce acrimonious.

Footage from the ring’s doorbell camera shows Steven Crowder demanding his wife, Hilary, who was then nearly eight months pregnant with twins, give his dogs drugs she believed were toxic to pregnant women and let them out

He also tells her to “perform womanly duties” as he asks her not to take their only car to run errands as it would leave him at home.

The Ring camera footage, taken on June 26, 2021, shows Steven smoking on their back patio as Hilary, dressed in a shirt that shows off her big belly, prepares to leave the house.

As she reaches for the keys, Steven was seen insisting that she not take their only car saying, “I’ve drawn a line.” You don’t take the car.’

When Hilary asks why she can’t drive the car to run errands, Steven replies, “Because if you refuse to do women’s things, I’ll go get groceries.”

He also asks her if she respects men, to which she replies that she does.

Apparently trying to come to an agreement, she asks if he would feel more comfortable if she asked someone to pick her up, to which Steven suggests taking an Uber.

He becomes visibly more agitated and explains that if Hilary takes the car, he won’t be able to go to the gym or see his parents or his friends.

“The only way out is discipline and respect,” you heard him say to Hilary. “It’s the only way out.”

At that point, Hilary, seemingly increasingly frustrated, says to Steven, “I love you. But Steven, your abuse is sick.’ She says, ‘I love you. I love you very much.’

But Steven says her love is “insincere,” arguing that if she’s committed to their marriage, she should put on gloves to give the dogs medicine.”

In the end, Hilary decides to leave the situation, after which, Ali reports based on witness statements, Steven got even angrier and shouted: ‘I’ll be kidding you.’

Ali reports that both Hilary and Steven said he immediately backed off when he realized what he said, but at that point Hilary was scared and left.

Crowder announced the divorce on Tuesday during an episode of his podcast, Louder with Crowder

What Does Texas Law Say About No Fault Divorce?

  • In Texas, a divorce is not final for at least 60 days after a petition is filed. It usually takes six months to a year or more to finalize a divorce, depending on the complexity of the issues and the degree of conflict.
  • Texas does not recognize legal separation. This means that even if you live separately from your spouse, any property you or your spouse acquire is community property – regardless of its title – and any debt you or your spouse acquire is community debt. Essentially, you are married until you are legally divorced.
  • Texas law allows for no-fault divorce, which means that the spouse filing for the divorce does not have to prove any wrongdoing, misconduct or wrongdoing on the part of the other spouse. However, a judge may allow for errors in determining what constitutes a fair division of the parties’ matrimonial property.
  • A divorce can cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars, with the average costing between $15,000 and $30,000.

In December of that year, Ali reports, Hilary filed for divorce after learning that her husband had hired a divorce lawyer a month earlier.

Crowder then announced on his podcast, Louder with Crowder, on Tuesday that he is in the process of getting a divorce.

“I’ve lived with a proverbial boot around my neck for years,” Crowder said.

“Since 2021, I’ve been going through an increasingly gruesome divorce.”

Crowder said his marriage ended for reasons related to growing apart naturally, rather than infidelity or abuse.

“And no, this was not my choice,” he added. “My wife at the time decided she didn’t want to get married anymore and in the state of Texas that’s perfectly allowed.”

Crowder called it the most heartbreaking experience of his life and considers the divorce his “deepest personal failure.”

He went on to say that he and his ex-wife Hilary have decided to keep the divorce matter private for the safety of their two children.

“In all of this, one thing I want to be very clear about is certain. The real north here is that my kids are flawless, completely flawless, which is why we’ve decided to resolve these issues privately because it’s in their best interests both emotionally and physically.”

It’s not yet clear if the divorce has been finalized, but Crowder says it’s an issue he’s been dealing with for “years.”

“I loved a woman so much that I married her,” Crowder said.

“A woman who, despite all this, I still love as a mother to my children and who wanted something different in her life.

“That’s not my choice, she just wanted to leave and the law says that’s how it works.”

Hilary’s family claimed to Yashar Ali that she hid the verbal abuse she faced

Hilary’s family also claims that Crowder was not present for the birth of their twins in August 2021, arriving at the hospital later in the day instead.

But speaking to Ali, Hilary’s family said she had to deal with verbal abuse from Steven for years before they decided to get a divorce.

Audio files that Ali said he reviewed reportedly show Steven admitting to having a volcanic temper. However, those confessions, sources told Ali, would only come after a prolonged period of mental and emotional abuse.

They said Steven didn’t seem to be able to control his impulses.

In a statement to Ali, Hilary’s family said she now lives alone in Dallas, “aside from her family and support system in Michigan, and she’s focused on taking care of her young children.”

“She is unwilling to speak at this time about her divorce becoming public or Steven’s misleading statements about their relationship,” the statement continues.

“The truth is that Hilary spent years hiding Stevens’ mentally and emotionally abusive behavior from her friends and family as she tried to save their marriage,” the family said. “She was the one who asked that they work on their relationship to keep the marriage intact for their unborn children.

“In June 2021, Steven left their home to undergo elective surgery,” the family members said.

Hilary pushed him to get the help he needed to deal with his abuse, hoping that their marriage could be saved and they could live together peacefully as a family. Instead, Steven refused and chose not to be with his wife during the birth of their twin children.’

“After the birth, Steven bought a mansion and left the house permanently,” the family continued.

Hilary was unaware that Steven had hired a divorce attorney and asked his assistant to financially cut Hilary off. There is considerable documentation substantiating these facts.

“We hope that Steven will stop speaking untruthfully about these personal matters in public.

“We also look forward to full transparency in the legal process, ensuring fairness and accountability for the actions that led to the divorce, and ensuring that the outcome is in the best interest of the young children.”
