Owen Farrell will captain England in the Six Nations after head coach Steve Borthwick confirmed his 23-man squad for the start of the Championship this month.

The new manager, who took over from former boss Eddie Jones in December, made a big decision opting to drop Sale’s center Manu Tuilagi, 31, in favor of Joe Marchant.

Borthwick have made a number of changes to the squad since the autumn, with an entirely new back line set to line out against Scotland on Sunday.

England: Butler; Malins, Marchant, Farrell (captain), Hassell-Collins; Smith, Van Poortvliet; Genge, George, Sinckler, Itoje, Chessum, Ludlam, B Curry, Dombrandt.

Replacements: Walker, M Vunipola, Cole, Isiekwe, Earl, Youngs, Lawrence, Watson.
