Stephen Miller’s America First Legal sues Target for transparency about ‘its LGBTQ political agenda’

Former presidential adviser Stephen Miller’s America First Legal is formally demanding that Target be transparent about its “radical LGBT political agenda.”

The retail giant has come under fire in recent weeks for its Pride Month display of “tuck-friendly” women’s swimsuits.

It was later revealed that the company donated more than $2.1 million to the pro-gay organization GLSEN, whose policies include requiring school staff to “ensure that all personally identifiable and medical information related to transgender and non- binary students is kept confidential’.

Target has since lost more than $15 billion in market value as conservatives and moderates alike continue to boycott the chain, worrying shareholders like the National Center for Public Policy Research, for whom America First Legal sent the formal letter to Target.

It requests that the company turn over all company books and records describing the promotion of LGBTQ products and the decline in market value.

In its letter, America First Legal notes that Target’s 2022 annual report recognizes that its core customer base includes “families,” saying, “Our continued success depends on a positive perception of Target, which, if eroded, could negatively impact have on our company and our relationships. with our guests and team members.’

But, it claims, the company’s executives destroyed the perception when they “recklessly bent the knee to the radical left.”

It did this by supporting GLSEN, listing more than 100 products in the “LGBT Pride: Children’s Clothing” category and stocking merchandise from the “Satanist-inspired” brand Abprallen for its Pride collection.

The brand, America First Legal claims, is known for designs that glorify violence, such as those that include the phrases “We Bash Back” with a heart-shaped mace in the colors of the trans flag, “Transphobe Collector” with a skull, and “Homophobic Headrest” with skulls next to a pastel colored guillotine.’

America First also states that its donations to GLSEN prove it supports the organization’s mission.

It goes on to say that the “dramatic and sudden loss to shareholders is a direct and predictable result of management’s calculated efforts to appease its far-left ‘stakeholders’, almost none of whom shop at Target and show of contempt for the companies’ core customers. ‘

“Target and its board of directors have failed to live up to their fiduciary duties and should be prepared to explain to their shareholders exactly why they are putting ideology over shareholder interest,” America First argues.

In a statement, Miller added, “If Target voluntarily and aggressively joins this movement, it will be an act of sabotage against Target shareholders and a destroyer of value — including for countless Americans for whom Target’s stock is part of the pension funds, mutual funds and retirement accounts on which they depend.

“America First Legal is proud to represent American shareholders who have been financially harmed by Target’s descent into gender extremism and child exploitation,” he said.

The retail giant has ramped up its diversity program in recent years under chief Kiera Fernandez and has ppreviously defended its support for GLSEN, saying on its website that the organization is “leading the movement in creating affirming, accessible and anti-racist spaces for LGBTQIA+ students.

‘We are proud of more than 10 years of cooperation with GLSEN and continue to support their mission.’

But the company did not mention that its vice president of brand management, Carlos Saavedra, 43, also volunteers as the organization’s director.

He joined Target in July 2019 and was named Vice President, Brand Management in January 2021, according to his LinkedIn page.

According to his profile, he joined GLSEN as a board member in May 2019 and was elected to the executive committee as treasurer in November 2021.

Saavedra’s profile explains that the mission of the organization is ‘to help create safe spaces in schools for LGBTQIA+ students’.

It was also revealed this week that Target’s 2021 tax returns show that in 2022 the nonprofit foundation funded the NDN Collective, an Indigenous-led organization dedicated to building Indigenous power, according to their website.

The NDN Collective’s calls for the return of public land support Israel opening up to those who identify as Palestinian refugees, and reportedly maintains “hostile views” of the military as they seek to “demilitarize” the United States.

“The closure of Mount Rushmore, the return of that land and all public lands in the Black Hills, South Dakota, is our most important battle,” NDN said of its LANDBACK campaign.

Mount Rushmore is not only in the heart of the sacred Black Hills, but is also an international symbol of white supremacy and colonization. To really dismantle white supremacy and systems of oppression, we need to go back to the roots. Which means for us that the indigenous lands are returned to indigenous hands.’

As for the US military, the NDN has said that “violence is fundamental for the US to maintain its presence.”

‘[T]The US military is explicitly out to take land away from communities around the world and use their presence on their land to further their own agenda for the residents of that area,” it said.

“Violence is fundamental for the US to maintain its presence, and the military is how they establish national and international dominance wherever they are.”

The NDN added, “However, the purpose of these informal militias was not to preserve the police or protect civilians, but to clear the country of as many natives as possible by indiscriminate killing and capturing runaway enslaved Africans.”

Target has also funded other organizations, Fox News Digital found, including the YWCA Minneapolis, which reportedly gives “anti-racist” advice that white children should be raised to see race in order to understand “systemic racism.”

Another organization is the YWCA in St. Paul and the National Urban League, which advocates for federal laws restricting the Second Amendment as well as “alternatives to policing.”

Amid an ongoing boycott of the Pride display, Target CEO Brian Cornell announced last month that the company had withdrawn several items that were “at the center of the most confrontational behavior.”

“Since the introduction of this year’s collection, we have faced threats that affect our team members’ sense of safety and well-being at work,” the company said in a statement.

“Given these unstable conditions, we are adjusting our plans, including removing items that were central to the most significant confrontational behavior.”

The company did not specify which items were pulled from its shelves. But many of the bathing suits, rompers and t-shirts that sparked outrage remained available online.
