Stephen Graham received royal honors at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.
The actor, 49, best known for his role as Andrew Gascoigne in the 2006 film This Is England, will face an inquest for his services to drama.
He dedicated the honor to his mother, who he announced on December 31 had passed away.
Stephen shared a glowing photo of himself on Instagram, proudly showing off his new medal.
Alongside the post, he wrote, “To you mama and to every kid who has ever been told to get a good job”

Stephen shared the heartbreaking news of his mother’s death late last year.
In an Instagram post shared hours after the announcement, the actor uploaded several photos of himself with his late mother, ranging from when he was a baby to his childhood days.
He wrote in the caption, “A few days ago… this incredible, inspiring, combative woman with the purest heart… my mother passed away.
Her words as a child ‘no one is above you and no one is below you…everyone is equal’ have stayed with me all my life.
“I’m so honored and proud to share this with her… A BLE to both of us mom”
It comes after Frank Skinner also received royal honors at the ceremony.
The 66-year-old comedian, who co-wrote the football anthem Three Lions for Euro 1996, was made an MBE by Princess Royal, Anne, for services to entertainment.
It’s been a tough few weeks for Frank, who recently lost his radio host Gareth Richards after he died following a horrific car accident.
Frank, whose real name is Christopher Collins, said after receiving his honors certificate he believed there may have been a “clerical error.”

He wrote in the caption, “A few days ago… this incredible, inspiring, combative woman with the purest heart… my mother passed away.”
He added, “So getting a good medal that you can hold and polish regularly feels like it’s given my career a sense of permanence that I like.”
His co-presenter Gareth, who played on Absolute Radio with Frank, suffered serious brain damage in a car accident, according to a statement from his wife Laura.
Richards died at 6:30 p.m. on April 7 after spending two weeks in hospital, his wife praising his “incredible” doctors and nurses.
Scans revealed his injuries were so severe that his supportive medications were removed.
It comes a week after Skinner, 66, burst into tears as he told listeners that Richards was in a coma and fighting for his life.
A tweet from Skinner’s show said they were “heartbroken over the loss of our dear friend.”
Emily Dean, who co-hosted with Richards and Skinner when the Absolute Radio show first aired, called him “my hilarious, unfailingly kind, sweet-natured, beautiful friend.” The trio co-hosted the show for two years.
In a statement, Richards’ wife, Laura, said: ‘It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Gareth passed away at 6:30 pm on Friday, April 7 (Good Friday).’
She added: ‘He was in a terrible car accident at 11:30pm on Monday March 27th and has suffered severe brain damage. It was a miracle that he made it to the hospital alive.

“Since then, the doctors and nurses have been incredible and kept him in a stable and sedated state.
“However, the final scan showed that the extent of the damage was so severe that they had to remove all supportive drugs and let him rest. The boys are doing well.’
It is believed Richards was injured in a serious accident between two cars and a lorry on the M25 near Heathrow Airport.
A man, believed to be Richards, was cut from his vehicle by firefighters before being treated for head and chest injuries by the London Ambulance Service.
