Stephen Fry was rushed to hospital after a horrific fall at an AI and technology festival in London.
The actor and broadcaster, 66, was speaking at the £495 CogX festival at the O2 when the accident happened.
It is understood Mr Fry had finished his speech and was leaving the stage when he fell six feet from the edge to the floor.
He suffered injuries to his ribs and leg before being taken to hospital for treatment. Mr. Fry’s agents did not respond to a request for comment.
A source told MailOnline: ‘It seemed like it was too dark and there didn’t seem to be any handrails.
“He fell two meters to the ground. He appeared to have been injured because he had to leave in a wheelchair.
The accident happened on Thursday last week and it is not clear whether Mr Fry – loved for his roles in Blackadder and the host of QI – is still in hospital.
He is usually a prolific poster on social media but has remained silent since the accident.

This afternoon, Greenwich Council said it had been alerted to the incident and was considering launching an investigation.
In addition, the organizers of the CogX Festival have launched their own survey on fall.
A spokesperson for the event said: “We were deeply concerned by Stephen’s accident following his inspiring speech on the impact of AI.
“We are thinking of him and wish him a speedy recovery. We have opened our own investigation and until then we are unable to share any further details.
A council spokesperson added: “The Council has received a report of an accident following an event last week at the O2 and is considering whether further investigations are necessary.”
Ben Boutcher-West, an attendee at the event, said on Twitter after seeing the drop: “Thank you for the great conference at CogX.
“I hope you’re okay after a fall too.
“Your presentation was one of the best and made me think a lot about my role.”
The event was expected to bring together 500 speakers and took place over three days on site.

It was announced that it would have an audience of 90,000 people and said the festival offered the opportunity to “engage with the best thought leaders from around the world”.
Mr Fry delivered his speech this morning to loud applause.
He was the first star on the final day of the festival, which also featured former CEO Diary host Steven Bartlett.
During his section on AI, Mr Fry told guests: “We have to choose whether we want to be Prometheus or Zeus.
“The only thing we can agree on is that it’s a really strange time to be alive.”
But as he was walking off stage, he lost his footing and fell to the ground.
Recently, he found himself seeking refuge in a Kiev air raid shelter during a Russian attack while visiting the Ukrainian capital for a conference on mental health.

He had described how he was startled awake at 4.45am by hotel staff who urged him to go to the basement shelter amid air raid warnings.
In online posts, he recounted how he was quickly ushered into the shelter alongside other guests, who he said were remarkably relaxed despite the imminent danger.
It was a few days after this visit that he appeared at the O2 to give his speech.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service would not confirm the identity of the man after the fall.
They told MailOnline: ‘We were called at 11.31am today to reports of an incident at the O2 Arena, Peninsula Square.
“We sent a doctor in a rapid response car, an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We treated a man for rib and leg injuries before taking him to hospital.”
In 2013, Mr Fry suffered injuries to his nose and forehead after falling out of bed.
The former QI host posted the news of his accident on Twitter and said he was left with “noble scars on his forehead and the bridge of his nose.”
