Stephen Fry has revealed that he regrets not having children in his youth.

The actor, 65, described it as the “biggest hole” in his life and said he had discussed having children with his husband Elliott Spencer, 35.

He said Mirror: ‘I mean, that’s probably the biggest hole in my life experience.’

While she said she’s had an amazing life and career, she admitted she regrets not starting a family, saying she had “opportunities” to do so.

I guess I’ve had opportunities to have children. It could have fixed something,” Stephen said.

He went on to say that he and his husband Elliott, who is 30 years his junior, talked about having children but never took action.

“Elliot and I, we talked about it a little bit, but we never talked about it to the point of, ‘Okay, so, we’re going to a clinic tomorrow to talk about this with an expert.'”

Stephen said that, however, he has been blessed with godchildren and nieces and nephews in his lifetime.

He and Elliott got married in January 2015, ten days after announcing their engagement.

Stephen took to Twitter to share the happy news, posting a photograph of himself and his husband, the stand-up comedian, signing the civil register in Dereham, Norfolk.

Stephen has campaigned in the past for gay marriage to be legalized, blasting his critics by saying there were 260 species of animals that suggested homosexual tendencies.

He admitted to attempting suicide after the breakup of his previous relationship.

Stephen, who suffers from bipolar disorder, revealed that in 2012 he tried to commit suicide with a cocktail of vodka and pills, only to be saved by a producer who found out.
