Steph Curry reveals he’s “not even close to picking up a basketball” after injuring his shoulder in a big hit for the Golden State Warriors who have lost three of four without him.

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has revealed that he is a long way from returning to the court as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury.

The reigning Finals MVP was hurt in a loss to Indiana on Dec. 14 after clashing with the Pacers’ Jalen Smith with the Warriors announcing they won’t have Curry for “a few weeks” the next day.

The 34-year-old provided an update on his recovery during the TNT telecast of Golden State’s 132-94 loss to the New York Knicks on Tuesday, but it wasn’t the boost Golden State fans were hoping for.

Curry revealed that he wasn’t even ready to pick up a basketball, never mind a return to action.

‘This one is interesting only because I haven’t had a shoulder injury like this. So it’s kind of a wait-and-see approach,” Curry said from the Madison Square Garden bench.

‘I’m still in the early healing process, so I’m not even close to, or even like, picking up a basketball yet.

‘It will be a few weeks. I think about the New Year and will start to schedule a timeline from there.

The Warriors are in the midst of a 1-4 road trip and have lost two of their last three games without Curry.

There’s no exact timeline for his return yet, but if Golden State is intent on defending its title, it’ll be hoping its superstar is back up and running sooner rather than later.

The Warriors had already lost their first two games on their longest East tour of the season and then lost to the Philadelphia 76ers, Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.

Curry was injured with about two minutes left in the third quarter as the Warriors tried to rally from a 20-point halftime deficit. His three-point play with 4:16 to go in the third put Golden State within 83-80.

But when Pacers forward Jalen Smith dribbled toward the baseline, Curry tried to stop him by sticking out his left arm. Smith continued, and Curry’s arm snapped back awkwardly. Curry grabbed his shoulder while he was hunched over on the court, then walked to the locker room during the ensuing timeout.

Following Curry’s injury, coach Steve Kerr said, “This is a tough stretch of the season and if Steph is out it sure gets tougher.”

If we’re healthy I feel like we can beat anyone, I think this team has shown that. We just have to find a way to get there.
